The M340i community on the backburners
I am not sure how true this is but, the Tuning community has placed us on the back burners. Their main focus is the g80/82 platforms. I was lurking on a Supra A90/91 Facebook group when someone posted an unlock from Visconti Tuning. So I reached out to them and they were very quick to respond, which is good. They only have unlocks for DME pre 06/2020 and to my surprise the new g80/82 platforms. The g80/82 came after the g20 DME so this gets me thinking that we are not important to the Tuning community. Hopefully Alex and his team at Mission Tuning can release the unlock soon.

so no DME unlocks for us who have G22 40i's after mid 2020 either huh? I though Dinan had an unlock for us but guess not then. If not I hope soon so I can get the full power as I have read in here somewhere that BMW has been scaling back our power vis DME updates to match the advertised levels?

The M platforms always get priority, the M owners are more tuning friendly and willing to spend more money on upgrades.
With that being said, the G20 is a very popular platform, it will get the attention of tuners as soon as they are done with the G80

We still get a bit of a boost than previous generations as the M340 shares a lot with the Supra, so modifications and discoveries there translate over without much hub bub.

I think there are some misconceptions here. Visconti tuning didn't technically "unlock" the ECU. What they do is send your ECU to Femoto in Russia and they clone it back to a pre 06/20 ECU and you are on your way. You can do this for the G80's, A91's, and M340i's that are 06/20+. However, only the Supra/M guys are bold enough to send their ECU to Russia and hope it actually makes it back. A lot of the M340i's are leased and a lot of people care about their warranty. Which is completely understandable. Side note: There's an A91 supra running 8.9 in the quarter-mile right now. Is the ecu unlock doable? Yes. Is it worth the hassle? That's a different question altogether.
Coming back to the M340i's. Bootmod3 released flex-fuel, anti-lag, and map switching for the B58 Gen 2 cars, which means we can use that. ECUTEK has lots of tuners available for the M340i also. I don't believe we are on the backburner for the tuning community at all. Plus the new A91 supra is back to a 6 port manifold design. This means any turbo setup made for the new A91 Supra will fit the M340i without any modifications. I know a few M340i guys just picked up the new Verus heat shield for the A91 Supra. Fits with no issues. Once someone completely unlocks the new Bosch ECU's, it will work for all the cars that use that ECU.

The rolling anti-lag is pretty useless because we don't have big turbo setups from the factory. Our turbo spool instantly even without anti-lag. This is why I was specifically looking for a pre 06/20 car when buying my 340i. I wouldn't be happy knowing I can't tune it.
