Don't know what country you are in but in the U.K. I believe this not allowed , hence it's not enabled.

I think you have to have the factory fitted alarm as a prerequisite before coding. If you have an alarm, you can normally enable/disable the function in the iDrive menu. I stand to be corrected as I have an Australian spec X5 sans alarm

I based in Singapore. I know we have a function when engine is on, and when you walk away etc, it will horn to notify you.
thus i believe we can also code horn when locked?

The car should have an alarm.
Selection is in the Roof Function centre" HU_MGU or HU_NBT_EVO

I think the question was if there is any possibility to have lock/unlock honk the horn instead of the alarm "speaker" (which is the prepared functionality that can be enabled/disabled via coding in BimmerCode.)
For OP:s "sporadic" scenario to find the car, the Horn can be triggered in "My BMW" mobile app and Connected Drive (if it is available in the region).

It is possible, but it will be better to consult a specialist in this domain. I think you will not get the answer to this question on this forum. I was in a similar situation with my horn. If it weren't for a paid professional, I wouldn't have got valuable advice. He told me to buy a new one because my old horn wasn't repairable. I bought it from this trustworthy https://hornblasters.com. It has fast shipping, so I went with it. It is amazing how efficiently everything evolves. You can get a consultation online, buy the pieces you need and even pay a professional to replace them.

When engine is running, locking will honk horn if VAM_HORN_AT_SECURE is aktiv.

When engine is off, locking will beep alarm if vehicle equipped with 302 and enabled in IDrive.
