Comfort Plus - Should I Have a Digital Key Card?
Specced my G26 with Comfort Plus which includes Comfort Access. This all works great and BMW sent me a notification about how to use my Smartphone for keyless entry.
What's bugging me is that all the documentation and a couple of UK YouTube reviews mention a Digital Key Card. My car has the NFC pad to support this. Bit concerned that somewhere out there is a key to my vehicle. Can anyone put my mind at rest that the car doesn't actually come with a key card and it's replaced by the smartphone feature in the UK? Obviously I'll ask the dealer but I trust you guys more to give me a reliable answer.

I have a credit card sized digital key with my March 2021 Comfort Plus spec"d car, but a fair bit has changed with deletions etc since then so not sure what to expect now.
Don't worry about a key floating around out there. Although I've not really looked into it, and just bunged the card in a drawer the day I collected it, I think you need to actually enable it in the car for it to work.

My understanding is the key card thing isn't available anymore ( it's in caps on my week 1 build suggesting its a deletion )

Just to confirm that to activate the card you need to have both keys in the car when you set it up so if it’s lost then it won’t be functional, dealers never set this up. I’d check the manual in the glove box as that’s where my key card was. HTH

Thanks all - panic over. A bit more RTFM has confirmed the card is disabled by default, has to be activated on the NFC pad and is currently showing as disabled in my iDrive. Really appreciate you taking the time to respond and reassure me

Confusingly, there are 2 different 'digital' keys - a card and a digital key on a smartphone.
When I got mine (used) there was only one key and no key card. Both were subsequently supplied, but I guess there is a key out there somewhere and a key card, both of which (if the card has been programmed) will open my car! There is no support on mine for a digital phone key it seems. |

I think it comes with Comfort Access which is included in the UK Comfort Pack ... so don't even need Comfort Plus (which adds electric seats and lumbar support)

My M340i was delivered in June 2021 and it has two key fobs, the NFC pad and digital key card, and also supports using my iPhone as a key. I put the key card in a drawer because I wasn’t sure about it’s durability.
It could be kept in my wife’s purse, but she would probably never remember what it was for, and she has been known to throw out cards she thinks are useless. I don’t know that it would hold up if I started trying to carry it in my wallet. However, I would like to know if it can handle being immersed in water, since it might be useful on a trip to the beach if I could carry it in a swimsuit. |

Ah ha! I do have the key card ... just found it in a little plastic wallet clipped into the driver's side sun visor. Thanks for the tip off.

The number of ways to unlock/open the car is quite mind boggling:
- Button on the remote key fob - Comfort access (key in pocket, just grab door handle) - iPhone NFC - Apple Watch NFC - Key card NFC - Contactless (car unlocks/locks automatically when key within 1-2m) - Comfort boot opening (foot hokey-cokey thing) - Lock button on tailgate (also locks all doors and folds the mirrors) - MyBMW app

Mine was in the cup holder ‘cupboard’. Perhaps they put them in different places just to confuse us!

I don't mind that, but I was more than a little surprised when I sprayed the boot and it popped open. Luckily I reacted quick enough not to fill it with water. Does that usually happen with a comfort access boot? |

LOL - that was a day 2 learning experience for me, too. Quickly found the trick is to leave the key in the house ... elsewhere in the forums the alternative advice is to pop the key inside the car.

Just wanted to ask, for those that have taken delivery recently and have the key card was there ever a reason to think they wouldn’t be there? (was the digital key delete shown on the original order?)

When cleaning, I tend to unlock it, open the drivers door, put the keys back indoors and close the door again... just in case someone chances their luck when my back is turned for a few seconds grabbing something from the garage or something.
Car stays unlocked and mirrors unfolded, but I'm assuming won't start. (although not actually tried that)
