What happened to the coin tray?
Just taken delivery of my M440i, minus the touchscreen which I was assured was still included as car was allegedly built before they deleted it, not too bothered as I rarely used it, and certainly would never have paid £500 for it, but what happened to the coin tray?
There's no way the chip shortage is why that's been deleted..... Car has comfort + pack, which includes extended storage, which I thought included the coin tray, when did they remove it? |

I don't think anybody knows for certain but it's been talked about before. It happened at some point this year. Apparently they changed the wording in the configurator as well to reflect that. I believe previously this storage tray was specifically mentioned in the Comfort Pack, now it's not. You can't even spec it separately to the pack.
I currently have an M340i Touring on order that is supposed to go into build at some point in January and I picked up on this a few weeks ago. My dealer didn't know anything about it either. I had this storage tray in my previous BMWs and I found it very useful so a bit annoyed by the omission and very intrigued to understand the reason.

Definitely a weird one.
In other news, my passenger seat has lumbar adjustment which was meant to have been one of the things they deleted ages ago…. |

When we say coin tray are we talking about the driver side cubby?

Yes it's missing from ours too (there's just a vestigial sort of recess shape in the dash moulding where it would have been). Looks like it's gone for good.
I don't feel too hard done by though, given that our car (bought from dealer stock) has everything intact, apart from that missing cubby and deletion of the wireless charging pad and digital key. |

It’s got to be the meanest deletion ever. Even the cheapest car from pretty much every other marque comes with a coin cubby.

Interesting.
I've got my 330d xDrive on order and was browsing the digital images and could see the storage compartment on the drivers side was blank.
So I read the description of Extended Storage and now it's not mentioned. It is however mentioned under the description for the 4 Series Gran Coupe . I have this on my F30 and it's useful, annoyed to now learn it's been removed, but glad I found this forum to confirm before I contacted my dealer. It seems they've removed so many standard features now but haven't knocked the price down. To my knowlege we've now lost: Touchscreen Back Rest Width Adjustment passenger side Reversing Assistant Drivers Side Storage Compartment. Not to mention the ability to spec the other options such as HK, I've had to settle for HiFi instead. I've had a look on BMW approved used at cars that were registered September this year and it's missing from those with Extended Storage too, some cars registered in August did and didn't have it with the option added so it seems it was August that it was removed. What also used to be part of Extended Storage included an extra 12V socket in the rear, I used to find this handy when using a tyre inflator on my driveway to save opening the boot. This 12V socket was on early vehicles but has now been removed and just leaves the two USB C ports. Last edited by jwadd215; 12-30-2021 at 09:26 AM.. |

My passenger seat has width adjustment and lumbar support, which was meant to be deleted.....
Have I maybe still got it because I specced the M Seats? |

Yes - I have them on my incoming order. They have additional adjustments (on the side bolsters I believe) so they have to keep lumbar as well for both seats.

That explains it then. Have to say, I'm loving the seats, and the M440 just has a different feel to it to the M340, glad I made the change.

Couple of reasons.
My 340 had the ivory merino leather, looks nice but complete nightmare to maintain. I didn't have the comfort + pack either which was a nightmare getting back in after every time the wife drove the car 😂 (first world problems) I think mostly it's the slightly lower position and slightly firmer more planted ride. And definitely how the car looks. |

Not something I'm ever going to notice tbh, I'm guessing this might be because the Coupe has frameless doors, so there is extra metal in the car somewhere to make up for this? |

My car was an exdemo so has this compartment, the car was a year old on 20th Dec but only had 2,300 miles on the clock so has no deletions.
When I looked at a new build the number of items that would have been deleted made me look at the used market. |

This is a pic of my new car which arrived last week. Built 1st week of December 2021, I believe. It's a G26 and I specced the Comfort Plus pack on it. I was also able to get HK audio which seems to be unavailable on many models.

Weird that the G26 still has it, my G22 was built in Sept 2021 and already has the cubby deleted - there's just a sort of recess in the dash moulding where it's supposed to be. And the car has Comfort Plus Pack and all the other nets and storage bits. (Did also manage to get HK audio etc though before all that stuff was constrained, I guess).
