2020 M340i Exhaust Sound Ruined By 03/2021.50

I am at the dealer right now having the car updated, I was here for another issue and decided to let them update it while I was here anyways.

I test drove a 2021 M340i while waiting... that thing as absolutely no exhaust noise, no pop, burble, anything... Wondering if it's the OEM tune or the particulate filters, probably a combination of both. I also did not like the power delivery with the assisted 48v system nor the fact you cannot disable auto-stop/start.

If I ever lose the nice sounds from mine, I will install the AA no cel catted downpipe.

UPDATE: got 03/2021.67 (see pic)

- start up sound a little softer but all other pops/burbles and exhaust loudness does not seem to be much affected, I even find noises above 4k rpm a little louder.

- some coding and settings have been reset but it's minimal.

My 2021 is absolutely louder with noticeably more pops and burbles in sport plus. 03/21.57 here.

What did you do? I have a21 also. Just update ? You have MPE? Or stock

So I have a 2021 with MPE and at first I said this was nonsense and that the car does not sound any different after the update. Finally having nice weather today, I went for a spirited drive with all the windows down and the sound is definitely better after the update. Nothing crazy but 100% there is more burbling and random very loud pops at high RPMs. Confirmed that the update brings back SOME of the '20 burbles and pops.

lol I just updated mine and did the same on 208. But I honestly coulnt tell a difference

Haha nice man. Did my drive down 17 to 287. Bring it up to like 6K RPMs and let off the gas. You should get some gunshots out of it lol. Thought I blew something up the first time I heard it.

Update… I finally got a response to my complaint after writing directly to Graham Grieve, the BMW U.K. Managing Director. BMW U.K. is currently contacting technical experts in Germany in order to obtain an definitive response as to why the change was made and it was not highlighted in the accompanying notes for the software update.

Which version are you running? The update that was pushed to me was 03/2021.50, but Im seeing some are running 03/2021.57.

i am still stuck on version 07/2020.48
bought may 2021 (21m340i)
i cant see any remote software upgrades available on mybmw app.
maybe canada hasnt received yet?

I'm in Canada too and was prompted the .50 a couple of weeks ago wich I did not accept since I was scared to loose the exhaust noises.

Afterwards I went to the dealer for a wastegate malfunction and they offered to update the car and I got .67 wich is even newer and not yet available on the OTA.

Practically the same as the 2020 software I had before. This car seems to get louder as you drive it harder. I am pretty it's a AA Catted downpipe away from pure bliss..

After a few hard laps at the track the downshift beside the wall sounded like a 12g shotgun.
