Racechip Tune

I have mentioned it in a couple of threads before but, I don't hear anyone talk about this power adder. If you watch the videos and review the dyno results, they are pretty impressive - 89 rwhp in Race mode with 93 octane. Am I missing something here?

I'm gonna give one a go over the next few weeks…will record some draggy results with and without.

You are not, the car is detuned from the factory wit a lot of power to be made by simply increasing boost

that's the case with all BMW turbo cars

That's what I thought. I have seen or read anywhere of an unhappy customer with this unit. I am using 93 and have tried on race - excellent power increase by SOTP gauge. Definitely worth the price.

I was just checking these out as well, and am going to get either the GTS Black or the JB4. What made you decide on the RaceChip over the JB4 ?

I know that I personally chose the GTS Black because I didn't want to go through the firewall with the JB4.

I can confirm SOTP increase as well on a 2022 M340i.

Racechip is a close second choice for me after the JB4.

I used the Racechip on my G82, and I was pleased with the power/reliability.

Im switching to JB4 this week because I wish to use E85. It's a lengthier install than Race chip but offers more features.

Thanks for the input my guys. I'm looking for more of a project anyway, so I'll set some extra time aside on a weekend to install the JB4. Let's put these engines to work!

Race Chip isnt bad..pretty simple with decent results.
But can do so much more with a JB4.
BMS JB4 you can datalog and can clear DTC codes and can run custom maps and can run a back end flash and can control meth and etc...etc.....lol
you get my point....

Well I tried a few custom runs that I'd say were more relevant to my everyday life than the 1/4

30-100 MPH Stock 8.12. Racechip 6.97

30-80 MPH Stock 4.96. Racechip 4.35

Also did:

62-124. Stock 10.76. Racechip 8.95

The second 62-124 got an invalid score and I'm not sure why? It measured a bigger slope despite it being run back to back on the same road.

And the 1/4. Stock 12.2 @112.2

Race chip 11.8 @ 116.5

I'm no expert when it comes to the 1/4 but the difference seems small in that when compared to the roll on runs.

Fitted the Racechip to my car today, had a play with the settings but have to say I'm pleased, the difference in low down grunt is vastly improved.

The initial pick up is surprisingly good even when I had it on the medium setting. I do like being able to switch settings on my iPhone, or even just turning it off so using the stock map on the morning commute but can turn to race at the press of a button if I want a spirited drive.

I doesn't feel hugely different at the top end but it was surprising how fast I saw the numbers on speedo climb, low & mid range is where it feels most different.

The wiring harness I found a bit of a faff, only when I tried to put the engine cover back on as the extra wires stopped getting the cover fitting properly, I got to sorted in the end but make sure you have plenty of cable ties as you'll likely have a bit of trial an error routing the cables.

👍🏻 Ok thanks for that…it certainly feels significantly quicker to me at all revs in all gears and I'm happy with it until such time a flash tune is easily available.

It was also a little wet when I did the 1/4 mile and I've had better 0-30mph and 60ft times previously on dry days so I think it will go quicker.
