Greetings. Going thru the process of having FEMTOEVO provide the shipping details and having my DME removed and prepared for shipment. I still can't believe that they are providing this service for me but all I can say is that it will be an awesome Xmas when this happens. Many thanks to them.

Wait so in the end of this, the shop basically sends out the DME to FEMTO then they unlock it and send it back to the shop. But In this case FEMTO is doing this directly with giving you a free DME unlock for Christmas….

Yes, but in my case, I am going to pay the tech to come to my house and remove the DME for shipping. I don't want to take any chances with the removal and the shop doesn't have any space to keep my car inside.

Here is a DIY I shared for DME G20 B58 removal a couple years back for anyone that is interested - no tools needed and maybe 5 mins (maybe)

It will not disappoint, I’m still waiting for my downpipe to come in but even just a stage 1 mhd map with crappy 92 completely changed the car. Who are you gonna tune with?

Over the air can be disabled - but an eventual visit to the dealer for an update (and therefore relock) may be tough to avoid 100%.

As an example I have a 2020 that I leased - I unlocked at home using mission performance - but I knew that once the car was updated at the dealer it would be relocked and then would need a bench unlock. So I simply avoided the dealer in that I had little reason to go there and did all my fluids at an Indy (and in fact had them do way more than a dealer would like 5k oil changes and rear diff oil change) . But when BMW did a recall on I think it was the brake software - I said nah I don't care. BUT when I went to my lease account to get pay-off in anticipation of selling BMW financial locked me out of pay off details until recall was done. So I was stuck - and eventually went to the dealer and was relocked. MP bench unlocked for me after that - but I guess my point is I think over time it's unavoidable. Same holds true for the overseas (overseas for us an ocean away from finland) 21+ unlocks - I think you have to accept the fact that at some point the unlock is going to need to be done again

Same issue with the brake recall here, called BMW NA and said I refuse to take my car into service for recall and they emailed me a disclaimer to sign that they are not liable for anything that happens and sent me my payoff. Lease is coming to an end in few months will probably go through the same process when i try to switch it over to finance.
