Rough ride on RFT - can you switch to 18 inch wheel
I have a 330I 2024 with 19 in wheels and RFT. Ride is harsh. Has anyone gone to the 18 inch wheel and large sidewall tries, and if so, did it make a difference?

Switch to non-run flats and that should fix ride quality. Also, do you have adaptive suspension? That also makes a huge difference.

1) 18 inch tires (which will have a thicker side wall) will definitely improve ride comfort. You'll have to buy new wheels (and tires) , but I see you are in Chicago. If the roads are not in very good condition, it's worth the cost.
2) Non-run flats will also help improve ride quality, but in my opinion, not by a lot. And don't forget you may want a spare and jack if you have non-run flat. 3) Adaptive suspension (think it's an available option on the 330) will drastically improve ride quality. But if you already own the car, a trade won't be easy. 4) BMW press / media indicates that the 2025 has a much better suspension that is more compliant, more comfortable. We will have to wait for reviews to se if that is accurate. |

Smaller rim will not always be more comfortable
I was surprised to learn that BMW homologated (*) non-RFT Michelin PS4S 19" is more comfortable then non-RFT Michelin CrossClimate2 18" (all season tire) - riding on exact same pressure. Clearly in this case it's all about the sidewall being softer on the PS4S. |

I can attest that the 2025 is a much better ride. Stiffness is about the same it's the dampning that's been greatly improved. I personally went from a 2021 M340i to 2025 M340i. Night and day difference.

Glad to hear that!! Every review I've read indicates that BMW has significantly improved suspension and ride comfort for all 2025 3 series vehicles.

Big difference. BMW has done away with RFT on their 440's and when I asked the dealership, they said too many ppl complained about them. I have a mobility kit in my truck now, not a spare. The 440 came with 19" Pirelli P Zero's. On my 540, I had to replace at 19K miles. I did get continental to rebate half of the cost by calling and complaining, but still that was a $700 bill that wasn't welcome on a car with so few miles. |
