I hope the G20 will get a G22-like grill soon
I think the new grill design that will be on G22, G23, G80, G82 ad G83 will be striking and will make G20 look old, just like 7 series and X7 made others look old. For that rason, I would like to see a new taller-larger grill design.

Don't expect such a major change to happen one year into production. Maybe in another two years when the LCI drops.

The physical engine did not change. Do not expect them to change the styling of the car one year into production.

Unless they pull an Audi...the B9 S4 came out in 2018, had refresh in 2019, and they are doing a true mid cycle refresh in for MY2020.
I think that is a sign that Audi missed the mark on the B9 S4...too bland. Just a more bland version of the B8 that rocked with the V^ Supercharged engine and DSG tranny. |

They probably won't change it though since they're moving the 4 series further upmarket and this will set them apart even more. |

The G20 M340 grill is here to stay. I agree it will start to appear on other model lines.

I hate the grille. I hate the grey accents. I've seen them in person many times now and it's no different.
With that said . . . . . . so we may as well accept it or move on to another brand. As for me, I'll likely order a M340 in Sapphire Black and then black out the grille and all the accents. It's really the only way to make the dang things disappear.

Any car is designed to accept a wide variety of engines right from the start. Every time BMW brings a new engine to market, it is designed to be compatible with most of the same cars that used this engine's predecessor. As a result, engine evolution has never matched precisely new model or LCI rollouts, and BMW simply introduces new engines as soon as they're ready (fresh examples: a single year of production for X5 and X7 with the 456hp N63 before the switch to 523hp, the upcoming upgrade to TU1 of all 4cyl and 6cyl engines in G30 a year ahead of LCI). On the other hand, if you want to change the grill, you actually have to rework the car itself. A different grill size means changing most of the front end parts, new crash tests, aerodynamics tests, cooling system verification. This is a complicated and expensive process that will not bring many more sales. Which is why BMW almost never touches the exterior outside of the LCI process, and even when it does it's never anything remotely as complicated as a grill redesign. |

I think BMW acknowledged the 4 series would deviate from the 3 series design more than the previous generation. To me, this means even if the 4 series gets this design feature, the 3 series probably won't.

That one (probably without the black wheels though).
I'm just waiting for Individual merino leather interior options now.
