Hi Shawn,

Could I please get the latest PSDZData links? Thank you very much.

One question. I am unclear as to whether a new version of Esysx is needed every time we get a new iDrive version. I just move from 03/2020 to 07/2020 and lost all of my coding. Can I use the same Esysx version to restore the coding I had? I understand that when a new iDrive version comes out mappings need to be redone but is that only for what is new functionality? Thank you.

PM sent. No new ESysX is needed.

I still can't figure out how to apply cheat xml's but I'm wondering just for conveience if this is the screen I go to in order to edit the settings to apply them later? Would make life a lot easier if I don't have to have the car connected and running to read the values, set them and later program.

I went to Editors -> FDL-Editor and opened an NCD file. Not sure if this is the correct NCD or how I know which one to use, this does have the HU_MGU which is what I do want. Thanks for any help!!

Yes, you can read ECU, then edit resulting .ncd in FDL Editor offline, and write .ncd back to car after connecting.

The .ncd filername is same as the corresponding ECU's CAFD name.

I made a lot of progress. Just memorizing the HEX value for each target helps, so I know 3E52 is HU_MGU CAFD and etc.

Also got the cheat xml's to work too, just need to make sure it's the correct series, so for my car S18A.

So I think the last thing I need to make sure of, before I risk it, is that the coding of the car is the correct sequence.

For manual modifications I do the following:
1. Connect to car
2. Read VO, Read ECU
3. Find Target CAFD file (i.e. under HU_MGU), right click the CAFD file, Read Coding Data
4. Edit NCD
5. Change desired value, then save
6. Go back, Code NCD.

But if I use a cheat XML or modify the CAFD with the FDL editor, it looks like I don't want to subsequently read the coding data, because that will overwrite what I just changed (this is what I observed).

Now I need to know if the following is the correct method to code values that I saved in the NCD file without reading from the car first:

1. Connect to car
2. Read VO, Read ECU
3. Find Target CAFD file and click on it (i.e. under HU_MGU)
4. Click 'Code', the Code NCD is greyed out

Thanks again, this will make my life a lot easier.

No. Code will VO Code ECU based on FA.

To write .ncd to ECU:

Right-Click ECU CAFD File => Select New FDL => Navigate to C:\ESysData\CAF and select matching .NCD file => Left-Click on Inserted CAFD => Select FDL Code (Code NCD).

Awesome!! Wow, that was not intuitive, this is a huge help.

Btw I think on newer Esys (3.34.0), or maybe it's just EsysX, doesn't have "New -> FDL", I've seen that referenced before. It has "New -> NCD", my guess is it's the same process because I now see "Code NCD" not being greyed out.

New E-Sys replaced FDL with NCD in many Menus.

Yea that's what I figured. And it worked! Thanks so much for all the help.

Btw, EsysX has a manual now: https://esysx.com/manual/

That proved to be pretty useful too for other questions I had.

Hi guys,

Trying to code "Situativer Abstand", guess I need your help on this one:
- E-Sys 3.34 (latest supported for Launcher Pro)
- Tokenmasters Launcher Pro 3.7 (latest available from Dec 2019 I guess)
- v.4.27.20_PSdZData_Lite
- Car is on 2020/07

Ffs, I just don't see SITUATIVERABSTAND in 3E52 HU_MGU. I can search for whatever I want, but nop.. Nothing. Nothing at all.

Next option would be to contact EsysX as I cannot log in to my account anymore, no chance to access my EsysX license anymore. Or i'll just buy myself the dongle to get rid of my macOS Bootcamp installation.

edit: Based on this reply (https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...13&postcount=9), it's because of the old Launcher which hasn't got the codes mapped. Ordered a EsysX Dongle, let's see when it will arrive.

Just checking I am not missing something in all this.

So as poster above stated:

1. Connect to car
2. Read VO, Read ECU
3. Find Target CAFD file (i.e. under HU_MGU), right click the CAFD file, Read Coding Data
4. Edit NCD
5. Change desired value, then save
6. Go back, Code NCD.

That is the normal process to make any coding changes, I understand that

But now what happens next time I want to make a change.

If I follow the steps above, is it loading the ECU file WITH the changes I've already made

I read the instructions for loading the new FA into the car , with calculating FA -> Write FA FP to master

Once that is the done the FA is now what the car loads everytime is my understanding, but does the FA contain all the ECU data, or is that the SVT ?

Do I need to save the modified SVT file to the car so it loads the proper ECU data each time?

Just trying to avoid having to code things if I make a change, having to recode things I've already done because it got changed back to factory default
