Centre console cubby hole broken catch

As per the photo, catch is broken on one side so won't soft open as it doesn't go up straight. Seems very flimsy!!

Suspect not covered under warranty, and prob more complicated than it should be to change.

Couple of questions....

Is it expensive & troubleshome to change? Couldn't see an obvious way to easily take out. If It is, then might be able to glue something in place.

If the other side breaks as well, I am guessing it will open perfectly well, but just without the soft opening ??? I could prob live with.

Why do you think it won't be covered under warranty?

^^^^^ This! Should be classed as 'component failure' and be covered by BMW warranty. Any dealership worth their salt ought to be able to get that replaced FOC as a warranty claim?

If you were going to replace this yourself then the only real soloution i think would be a breakers yard as i don't think you'd be able to source this alone without having to take the whole trim as a package.
As for removal iirc, if you press on the broken part with a trim tool lift up the lid and it should just pull out.

£106 - There’s a couple of different versions, so you would need to check the number on the installed part - but it looks like an easy swap out!
