Just checked mine in for its first MOT. I asked about end of warranty checks and was offered one. On querying it I was told that BMW had stopped offering them but the dealer (Group 1) was now offering them f.o.c. instead.

Just as I predicted further up in the thread.

My car was in for its 1st brake fluid change recently. The MOT is due in March, so I booked it in and asked about the end of warranty check.

I was told that they no longer do that but they do a health check prior to the MOT. I’m not sure what happens if they find an issue though.

Dont BMWs have a "First MOT guarantee" anyway... guess that would normally be rolled into the end of warranty check.

I think the health check pre MOT is standard, and is designed to catch things that might fail (basically, avoiding the fail record and the retest fee). The end of warranty check is much more thorough.

The retest fee only applies if you take the car away and leave it more than a day (as per https://www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/retests) so only really avoids the fail showing up, although not sure why people would be bothered by that if any issues are fixed and retested OK?

I think some people hate to think that their pride and joy failed. You know what these BMW owners are like….

My warranty is up in March and just got an email today from BMW Tayside (John Clark Motor Group) offering the free end of warranty check.

I will probably take it to Edinburgh Eastern BMW though as it is closer for me, will let you guys know what they say when I try and book.

So just to confirm BMW no longer pay the dealer for the EOWC but some dealers are still offering them at their own expense in the hope of finding some work out of it.
