.::Elliptical::. -=[TimeAttack]=- Thread
For the elliptical lovers...how about we post some of our records to keep things interesting? After all...no matter how dedicated we are, the elliptical CAN get boring at times.
From my experience a decent elliptical user can do at least 1000 strides, 100 calories in 7 minutes or less. Now I know each machine is ever so slightly different from the next...but for the Precor models...they are pretty much on par with maybe 5 calorie variation at most. Here's mine (Precor EFX 576i)**: -=[28 Minute Time Attack]=- 432 calories (resistance 10/incline 18) -=[35 Minute Time Attack]=- 541 calories (resistance 10/incline 18) -=[60 Minute Time Attack]=- 920 calories (resistance 10/incline 16) (vid below) **btw I'm working on my incline...I'm maxed at 20 now...if I set the incline to 10...I'm even faster |

Not sure if your (or any elliptical machine really) can go high enough for this...but if it can, check out H.I.I.T. (high intensity interval training) to mix things up.
Not much of a hardcore on the elliptical myself, I just use it to ease down after my running session. |

I agree! When I do cardio, my objective is to sweat as much as possible (for weight loss purposes) and the stairmaster is by far the best.

I did 2 steps at a time and it wasn't even close to the workout I get from the Precor. I couldn't handle 3 steps at a time for extended periods of time. The Precor is a total crossramp...maybe that's why? |

30 minutes timer
33 seconds left snapped a pic. Depends on what I feel but I start with at least 30 min of cardio before weights. Sometimes run, elliptical, or last bicycle. Sometimes I'll do 15, 15, 15 on all three to really work the legs.

1 lb of fat is equal to 3,500 calories. This is pretty easy to burn off in a week, assuming you do 5 days a week, 700 calories per day. The StairMaster is what I do when I'm bored and want to switch it up. I absolutely hate it because I suck at it. I don't know the brand/model that my gym uses. I usually try to go all out, usually at level 10-13 until I can't take it anymore and I lower it to 5-6 to regain my breath and repeat. I do notice the amount of calories burned is less than that of the treadmill and elliptical. |

WOW! 800+ calories in 30 minutes!?!? that's like 50 minutes minimum on the elliptical for me!
More people post up your pics!! I was getting complacent here and now I have something to work for Goddamn man and I'm already sprinting too...I dunno how much more time I can shave off. I think the best I can do is 48 minutes for 800 calories. I'm never gonna beat you TheLegacy, but I'll try... |

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...63&postcount=1 It's been a while, but the first picture I was at 220 lbs. The middle I was at probably 150? The last I was at about 145? |

lmao pics of the elliptical machines not your sexy body / success story. I'm sure you're snagging all the babes now though I still look like your first picture. I eat terribly though. But I'm good at the elliptical! Or so I thought until TheLegacy showed up. . |

Oh, haha, I don't have the said pictures then. :P
It's funny because I'm near sighted...and I don't wear contacts or glasses when I work out so anything more than 5 feet away from me is a blur. Yeah, man. Eating habit plays the majority. I used to eat whatever whenever. Now not so much anymore. |

I stick with HIIT on the elliptical. I warm up for 5 mins then go for 1:30 on level 13 followed by :30 at level 8 (all the while staying above 130 speed or whatever it's called). Repeat for 25 minutes. The last set I extend so that it's a full 2 minutes at level 15 while staying above 130. Then 5 minute cool down. All this after lifting for about 2 hours or so. I don't really sweat when I lift but this gives my shorts ball and ass crack sweat marks

I am about to give up. I usually spend an hour or so on the elliptical but I did a 30 minute time attack yesterday and last Friday to see how close I could get to TheLegacy.
Friday - 487 calories / resistance 10 / incline 20 / ~16.1 cal per minute / ~165-170 strides per minute / ~159 heart rate Monday - 513 calories / resistance 10 / incline 20 / ~17 cal per minute / ~170-180 strides per minute / ~168 heart rate (prob higher...I hit 168 around 13 minutes in and it just stayed there, machine may be wonky) My heart was thumping so hard yesterday it took me 5 minutes to get my heart rate down to 117 after I was done; to get 800 calories in 30 minutes I'd have to do 27 calories per minute, a far cry from my record of 17 I achieved yesterday. Genetics I guess. Today I think I'll max the machine resistance to 20 and sprint as hard as I can for 15-30 seconds. If I can't even reach 27 calories/minute during that brief duration, then beating TheLegacy is absolutely impossible and I will just forget about it haha. |

But the stairmaster isnt hard on your body so thats what makes it a good workout for me. I usually just finish up my practice with it so that I can keep my sweat rolling at a steady level of 14 or 15 for 20 minutes.
