Lmao jeez strong overreaction. Why'd you take it so personally? Go and hate on something else? I just find the F30 and G30 to be stale looking.

Just realized that the "kink" on the 4er Concept is very similar to the iVision Dynamics concept. The kink goes back towards the trunk, then takes a gradual downwards turn. I think this is the same "kink" we will see on the 4GC. Personally not a fan, but we'll see...

You are/were putting words in my mouth and/or twisting the intent behind certain things that I've stated.

This process has occurred as far back as I can remember. On Roadfly (...you might be too young in the tooth to remember that forum, but I could be wrong...), the E36 guys hated or complained about the E46; on E46Fanatics, a forum for which I moderate and have been on since 1999/2000, they hated or complained about the F8X, and so on. People complained about Bangle's controversial designs. This is the way things are. In a few years time, when IND is starting build threads where Bimmerpost members are drooling at the build (...which is NOT to suggest that everybody will love the front end of this car), we'll reflect back on these threads.
Your diligence/persistence is admirable even though i have the complete opposite position- ie i hate it plain and simple...i too have been active since Roadfly with my same user name and followed and contributed through the years. While i agree there was always the initial “i hate the new M3” vs the previous generations, i believe much of the complaints were around the size and different powertrain changes as the cars grew bigger and fatter and then dropped the MT only, and then, gasp, the turbo era (but yes i owned the F80 in spite of)...but, at least with the 3er, the design was never the complaint from my perspective... even Bangle (which i actually luved at the helm of design) knew NOT to F*K with the 3er as its BMWs bread and butter benchmark - and the E46 is arguably the most beautiful and well rounded package that ever wore the roundel (though i did and still do luv the E30 design, and had 1 of them too). No one was arguing the e36 was more beautiful than the e46 thats for sure(skipped that gen as i thought e36 was a bit BUTT, but i never hated it like the new monstrosity.
Its a fail plain and simple and the fact that bmw will lose perhaps 8-10years cleaning up this mess is a serious business problem for them. Bmw isnt the same company producing amazing vehicles from a driving dynamics perspective anymore that all of the competitors have caught and perhaps even surpassed in certain segments, ie people have alot more choices today than even 20 years ago and any impact to the 3/4ers will hurt bmw long term.
There was NO reason for such a polarizing design, its not beautiful and its NOT “form following function” hence it was a terrible decision.
Im all for new, fresh, modern designs from BMW, but they need to be beautiful and or form following function dependant.

Look at what Porsche is doing with the Taycan, fresh, beautiful, modern design the looks like no other car yet looks exactly like a modern Porsche. You think that i4 can compete on design? Never.

I hear u saying we, as loyal enthusiasts must must accept it, BUT, you are wrong, imho. The US market does have a say in this and BMWNA better be reading this entire thread and see whats coming and how they’ll never meet the new CEOs demand to close the gap with MB when the company makes such poor executive decisions.

If year 1 they sell 25% less M3/M4s they surely get the message. Im voting with my wallet and the decision is already made.

My take on the 15% change to production.

Wing Mirrors - insert road versions
Rear Valence - less aggressive and space for rear plate
Front grill - size is real people, plate located where the clear Perspex will be and less aggressive air intakes
Height - car will be higher
Wheels - smaller

Done!

MISS: BMW Concept 4

A generally gorgeous piece of design ruined by one of the worst versions of the kidney grille yet. Hopefully the production 4-series won’t be quite as cack when it arrives in 2021.

The Kink is also missing. Two absolutely key BMW design elements ruined. Kidneys and the H kink.
If I was on the board of BMW and approved this I would be very concerned for my future. (You can be sure they approved this concept)

Yes we will see this on the production 4,4 Gran Coupe and i4.

This model has more recessed slightly smaller grill inserts and a bit different air intakes. Can this be the production look? I hope so since I like it even better than the concept

I am beginning to like it. The grills are more pronounced than the 7 and specially the inserts are better looking than the toothy look on the 7. It's a somewhat of a retro look with a modern twist:

Sorry but Big Kidney Grilles are Here to stay.

Wait till you see the one the new 7 and i7 will receive. And if you thought the LCI Kidney Grille was huge.

The new 2 as well on how it shrinks the more organic and broad details of the 8 and 4 to a more compact package.

But the 4 indicates a radical departure from the current 4er.
It will be more sportier in appearance and behaviour.
I am told that the forthcoming M4 provides more interesting elements to its Aeropacket.

So we are going to see a lot more emphasis on design across the entire BMW Group. I am extremely excited about the new MINI design especially its resurrected Rocketman idea. I reckon it's going to make people fall in love with MINI all over again.

Are the grilles going to be recessed and sculpted like in the concept, or more flat and flush like the other grilles in the lineup?

I've (reluctantly) looked at it some more and I think I get what BMW's trying to do here. They want that 'expensive' Bentley look. I like change, and a very big grille is fine with me so long as the shape has an aesthetic appeal. To me the beaver teeth simply don't.

I was really looking forward to a brand new M3 picked up in Germany. Unless they somehow make that schnoze integrate better in the production model, im with the naysayers.. this will hurt them which they cant really afford with the shift to e-cars that is sucking down money.

This is sad... no 1st time bmw euro delivery for me.

Not sure why, but when I look at the front end I think "Alfa" and when I look at the side profile I think "Lincoln MKZ" A very strange juxtaposition of edgy and utterly forgettable

The new design language is a Hail Mary pass for an automaker who has lost the technology battle to Tesla, and is now faced with a generation of Millennial's who don't give a rat's patoot about any of the marque's traditional values. It looks like BMW has capitulated and decided their only hope for salvation is the Chinese market.

Looks like my 12th BMW will be my last.....

I’m pretty certain the new M4 will be my favorite design of all my BMWs so far which started with the E21 and was followed by at least one car in each generation.
