Great question, my local dealership just raised an eyebrow and told me the update would be over the air… i said it couldn’t be with 6P1.. they just didn’t really have a clue

6P1 include a "preparation for a remote software update", not that remote software update disabled. The woes of translating bullet points from german.

I already had on RSU on my 6P1 car just after delivery, so I can confirm that works.

The final update that brings it back is not yet out, this thread merely serves a status as to the progress of their dev work, from what i can see in ilevel updates.

As soon as it's working on my vehicle, I will be sure to post full detailed intrsuctions for everyone on how you can get yours working.

Thanks, you posts have been very informative!

I checked and I have RSU and can search from within the car for updates. However, since I have no WiFi then presumably the software downloads to the car via the SIM in the car. Once WiFi is reinstated then future updates could be done via the MyBMW app on my phone.

Hello guys, I got a recall message in the mobile app.
To make it short, they are basically recalling the cars with 6P1 in order to apply the corrective update... Tomorrow I have my appointment with local dealer, I'll keep you posted.

Ooo, I wonder if this applies to the Uk

Edit - just checked with SA. They can't action it until it comes up on your app or the recall site as an active campaign on your vehicle.

Hopefully it's just a case of the systems pushing them out section by section and we will all get something through in the next week or so.

" You should receive an in car or app notification when there is a campaign due on your vehicle. So when that happens let me know and I can confirm on my side to book you in."

I'm a hungarian 330i (2022.01) owner. Last week I sent an email to BMW Hungary to ask about the update that will restore the lost functions to 6P1 cars.
Their reply was that "the update in question will be available on 22nd of June". That's almost a bit too exact to be believable. We shall see, I guess...

I contacted my local dealer in Poland two weeks ago and it confirmed, that this is a software issue that can only be fixed during a service visit, as someone needs to plug into your car to perform the update. I should call them this week to check whether the fix has already been made available by BMW (the date was postponed a few times).

RSU will not be useful, as it does not work due to the bug.

So this recall is an update in preparation for the OTA update that will be downloaded via RSU?

The recall will do the update for you, as the dealer will flash the car with the latest istep, and activate the neccessary features

Okay, so it has te be done by dealer. No OTA available. And after the update from the dealer, CarPlay will work immediately?

My car (BMW F40) will be delivered to me this Saturday. I asked my dealer if my car is already elligible for this update so they can apply it up front.

To my understanding, yes. No CarPlay connectivity is one of the major issues this update is intended to fix.

Keep your expectations at bay, actually they updated my car to ones of the March 2022 versions and it did not recover the missing functions. I had a long discussion with my dealer and later with a direct-drive agent regarding the mistake with the recall notice I received. Long story short, they assured me that the missing functions will be re-establish with the July update...

This is a separate update I believe? When did they apply the March 2022 update on your car? Because this specific update to resolve 6P1 is just a few days old.

The update was applied yesterday, I got the notice from BMW and all but in the end it did not do anything, after having a call directly with them demanding an explanation, they told me that functions will be fixed with the July update and the recall notice was a mistake.
I dont know what else to do, I'm under the impression that im dealing with useless people to put it nicely.

I can give you the following information. Ista version 4.35.x will provide the firmware for the MGU faster than OTA.
This version was released today with the changelog saying that the version will solve the issue . It takes time to update all the notebooks from the dealership (the package has 200+gb) . I guess that next week all the dealers will have this version updated , from the currently 4.34.

Ista update is not region dependent . Remote Software is , so you can expect a longer time to receive (1-2 month more) .

After i received the notification , i took the car to my service advisor and he told me just that , that the notebooks haven't yet been updated . I will keep you updated .

On sgate , when you search for the the VIN Number appears the recall . There you can open the documentation of the recall where it is specified the version of ISTA and the changes about the WI-FI . Unfortunately , i don't have access , that's what my service advisor showed to me .
If i had it , it would have been attached .
