B48B20A or B48B20B in my 330e?

Looking to find out if I have the B48B20A or B48B20B engine in my G20 330e and in the cert of conformity I see this:

Model: 330E A
Series/Engine: G20 XB1G

Sounds like it is the A model but just curious to see if others have the same

I’m sure there’s a thread but what’s the difference between them?

No such thing as "B48B20A" or "B48B20B".

G20 330e uses B48B20O1 on the petrol side, the electrified transmission unit is GC1P25M0, and the whole package is XB1141O1.

If you open the hood, take of the engine cover and look at the front of the engine (behind some cabled in the middle of the engine quite high up) you can see the engine code on the engine itself. I've got a 330e G20 and have the B48B20B model.

B seems more desirable. Why? What does it mean?

I'm not really sure to being honest. As far as I've heard and read on the forum the A model is the engine in the 320i and the B model the one in the 330i. If you're looking to tuning/optimize your car and look at some of the resellers you can often see "Only for the B48B20B engine" and therefore it's more desirable I guess.

Yes that's it. Makes no difference when the car is stock but the B model if based on the 330i engine can be mapped higher.

That's not the engine code. That's the engine block code. All you have to do to find which block is in your car is look it up in a parts database. Here's the link for EU G20 330e:

It is much easier to know if you have the A or B motor. The A has an intercooler and the B a watercooler. If you look in front of the engine on the right you will see that engine B has two coolant tanks and A only one.
