M340i HP higher than advertised

Interesting article suggesting european models are actually producing over 400 HP, not the 374 HP quoted.

I think we've all known that BMW's hp numbers were way underrated. Good to see one confirmed on the dyno though.

Over 400bhp stock is pretty impressive!

Just a shame the G21 has got so lardy though; getting on for 1.8 tonnes really is a bit ridiculous, it could do with being 200-300kg lighter to make better use of that B58 engine. Mind you, I suppose the X-Drive only configuration in the UK doesn't help - guess it must weigh a fair bit more than the RWD equivalent that's available in some other markets?

I reckon your looking at another 60-100kg or so which is not far off on the lower end of the weight saved from F-G model.

Their m340i has an after market downpipe which accounts for some of the extra power.
Either way though nice numbers.

Stock was still 405hp without the downpipe.

Not into mods myself, but downpipe took it to 435hp and then 479hp with the GTS Black.

If you'd rather look at wheel (and only because I was just trying to work through this earlier in another thread) stock was 326.3 at the wheel and 375.5 at the wheel with the GTS Black + DP - this according to the video
