G20 wing mirror cover dilema

Hi,

I bought a aftermarket carbon wing mirror cover and it was a direct copy of the m performance part. However what I got had small fins, like the m series covers.

I'm not sure on the look, although I have installed the full m performance body kit, so the fin might compliment the overall look?

I can get a refund and for a extra £155 I can get the genuine part.

Question is to all of you, what one should I go for? Fin or no fin?

Thanks.

I have carbon mirrors too but for me it's no fin.
I have read that they tend to generate wind noise.

I never thought of the wind noise.

I say that only from what I have read not from any experience so might be worth giving the car a bit of welly and finding out if it is indeed a 'thing'.

Another vote for fins, it completely changes the aesthetics of the car imo.

Saw an F32 with full m performance kit and it just looked infinitely better compared to standard wing mirrors!

You'd imagine the fins would be more aerodynamic being for a proper M model?

They do look great. How easy were they to fit? Heard they are a proper PITA.

Its going back to the supplier. One of the mounting points for the screw to hold the indicator in place sheared off. It had about 1mm of plastic connecting it to the inside of the cover. The fit is also off and not flush.

Exactly! Time and again though I read that folk say that they are defo are noisier at speed. Maybe there is a slight difference in the OEM??

I found them fairly easy to fit, you just have to place faith in the fact it takes a fair bit of wedging up of the glass before it pops off and make sure whatever you are using if broad enough to cover most of the bottom of the glass, thin enough to fit under and strong enough that it won't flex as you pull up. Others have had success taking the caps off just tilting the mirror up without removing the mirror but for me that will significantly increase your chances of cracking the glass.
Hardest part was disengaging both upper left clips with the passenger side being a feckin pest to loosen. I did however remove all without snapping any
