Well done, Alpina.

Amazing how the Chrome grille really looks better than BMWs standard offering.

The black one looks like lipstick on a pig, and the Hyundai grill on the MSport looks like - well a Hyundai.

So it's nice to see the older tradition of the six cylinder model still being given some respect by Alpina.

Currently this is the only 3 series I would consider.

Equally disappointed. Less choice is not a good choice.

Everyone is saying it has S58 engine but someone told me it's a modified S58 and now it's called B58 in the Alpina B3. So does the new Alpina have S58 or B58? Any link with technical data?

Also, I'm a sucker for Green, and Alpina has one gorgeous green, and that interior is nice too! Leather and stitching everwhere!

Alpina is an independent car manufacturer. It just happens that they are using BMW cars as a base for their end product.

I don’t know this for a fact, but I’m confident if BMWNA wanted to import the B3, Alpina would be very willing to produce them for the U.S. market. I agree the B3 would almost certainly outsell the B7 by a significant margin.

I don’t know the exact process, but I think it’s pretty obvious BMWNA makes decisions on what to import independently from what BMWAG decides to produce for the overall world market. Otherwise we’d surely get the G21 over here.

They are only producing between 1200 and 1700 cars a year. Can they produce more? Do they want to produce more? I'm not sure about that.

I was initially very skeptical it was an S58 too. I thought for sure it must be a modified B58 since that is what Alpina traditionally does - modifies standard BMW engines.

But it appears that they really did get access to the M engine this time. Read from this post below to the end of its thread.

All evidence says S58.

Put wider hips on this, more aggressive hood and this is what the G8X M3 should have been.

Is that the chrome grill from the luxury line? Or a special one for the Alpina version?

This looks old after seeing the new grills. I hope they make a 4 series version of this.

Between Japan and Germany and few other markets Alpina supposedly can't handle too big of an increase in production.

They are essentially a boutique manufacturer and have been so since they received manufacturer status from VDAT (German DOT) back in 1983.

And they should be importing other cars in their lineup than an X7 but that model does make sense for the North American market.

If you really want to contact him Google Matt Russell, Alpina USA - heÂ’s on LinkedIn.

But I think you miss the point. Alpina is specifically not trying to make another M3. They are deliberately making something different. It's ok that you don't like it, but you can't call it an M3 wannabe.

You are right I was giving it way too much credit since there is no point to it.
