Here ladies and gentlemen is a real proof that some designers can not pass the sketch level...
Maybe I will accept that if this team was designing the basic Tata vehicle. Terrible is just a nice way to tell BMW "this is crap"! Should I cry or should I laugh? Lately I am just |

It's OK until you see the car dead front. It looks comical not a tad aggressive from that perspective. Like a caricature of a piggy car.

One positive - the 4 series can no longer be confused for a two door 3 series.

I think the problem with the grill is the verticality of it. Yes...BMW had some relatively tall grills in the old days but those cars had tall fenders so the tall grill fitted in.
Modern cars are primarily horizontal, especially performance cars. The tall, Edsel Bugs Bunny grills make the cars look comical whereas a horizontal grill helps make them look aggressive. I don't buy a BMW to purchase a car from a television cartoon series. I am not a fan of the larger grills on the 7 and 8 series and the X7 but I can tolerate them if everything else is okay. But I can't tolerate the Edsel/Bugs Bunny grills. My current car had an msrp of >$73K. Unless BMW gets it design act together, it will be my last. |

It's not even just the size of the grills, it's also the shape. It's crap. Even smaller, they'd be ugly. Larger could've worked better with better shaping. Smaller with better shape, even better. Something like this car maybe? That would make a sick 4 series. Wait, what's that thing the back window does? Some sort of... kink? 😉

Same here. My F36 is about to expire and this F33 I scrambled to find and ordered the day I saw the G22 leak is waiting on a vessel. This will buy me 36 months to see if the G26 LCI improves things. Not hopeful. |

Just horrible! Those, who are considering ordering 4 series should immediately start their own support group / forum.
We will come over and remind you how ugly your car is every time you post pictures of it. I wonder if iND or others will offer a front-end conversion with smaller grills? Now that would be something worth considering.

It isn't only the grills, now buck teeth, but the body lines are all different too, no more kink, no more crease on the body across the door handles. I just can't get over all of it.
ETA: I see that BMW is still having issues with orange peal with white cars |

There's a very visible kink. I'm not sure why the presence of a kink is even an issue. It was a GM design cue adopted by BMW in the early 60's.
