Radio display
No matter how I setup the media widget to display the radio information I can’t get it to display all the RDS / radio text information for the station and it cuts it off rather than scrolling it or moving the rest of it onto a new line.
This is worst with music stations that have radio text for the currently playing track and at least half of it will be cut off. Am I missing something in the setup or is it just poor design? |

Yeah, this has been one of my pet peeves since receiving my car.
If a title of a song is over so many letters we only Partially see the playing song title. I’ve been in cars half the cost of the new 3 series and all the info scrolls across the screen. As above, if I’m missing something so I can see all the track detail I’d love to know. Note: this happens on the main screen and the screen through the steering wheel. |

Interestingly, when I’ve seen pictures of this with US versions of the car, it looks to be displaying correctly. Maybe their system is different. |

You're right, it doesn't scroll across. Not helped by some stations prefixing the song with "Now Playing on XYZ:"!
You would have thought this would be fixed in newer software releases. |

Thanks Tam. It is looking like I am going to have to invest in Bimmercode and an OBD adapter. Which one do you use to access as many options as possible please?

I'm surprised they don't have it like the map view where the right hand options bar disappears when you don't need it. That would surely help a bit.

I also find it frustrating that the BMW system doesn’t display the DAB radio station logos for many of the stations.
With a previous Mk7 Golf GTD all were displayed so why can’t BMW do that too?

I realise that this is an old post, but the fact is the problem still exists! I have the software version 11/2022.58. It is very annoying as there does not appear any configuration setting that can help. Unfortunately iDrive will not allow full screen configurations. My Alfa Romeo Giulia used a marquee type of sideway scrolling to show the full singer and song title! You would think that someone in BMW would notice this and surely, the fix cannot be hard...

I have a 22 M240i with idrive 7 and also am frustrated by this issue. My wife has a 2023 330i with idrive 8. The Media screen is like a billboard, with practically enough room to scroll the lyrics if they wanted too. I don't need this kind of screen real estate, but certain they could extend or wrap the space for the song title in idrive 7. Kind of baffling why it is like this.
