Folks,
I think I'm going mad. Here is my situation: I wanted my mirrors to fold when locking car, and the interior ambient lighting on max brightness. So I tick the 'fold mirrors in when locked' tick box and turn up the brightness of the ambient lighting to max. When I lock the car. Mirrors don't fold in. Got back in car and the tick box still ticked. I notice that the brightness of the ambient light is defaulted back to 50%. Despite ensuring tick box is ticked and brightness on max - mirrors only fold if I long push BMW button on remote and lighting always reverts to 50% Human error or gremlins?

Other possibility is that your battery may be low in charge. See this thread regarding mirrors not folding. https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1685064

I used to be baffled by when the left hand mirror would choose to dip or not when reversing, both for 3 years on my 220d and for the first few months with the 330e.
Saw in another thread that the mirror only dips when the electric mirror adjust selector switch is a certain way (i.e. left or right - can’t remember which). Just wondering if this affects the mirrors folding as well? No idea with the brightness sorry though not sure how much use the mirrors answer is either! |

F.Y.I. The reverse gear dipping of the mirror setting does not affect the folding of mirrors.

Makes perfect sense, honest!?!? Thanks for that. Can’t believe all the changes BMW make for different markets, different options etc, they can’t change the direction of this - And let’s face it, it will be software related so not difficult! Well done BMW, that’s impressive |

Normally my mirrors fold when I lock the car but then occasionally they won’t, I can find no pattern to it at all

Make sure of that when you change the settings the car is running. I've noticed these settings not saving when I change them with the car turned off (when I'm gonna wash the car).
Also, as someone else mentioned, try the iDrive reset. And finally, check which iDrive version you're running. Latest version you can get installed at your dealer right now is the 03.2020.x. If the issue persists, get them to update your car. I have this version and I have no issues whatsoever (only an annoying issue with the car not playing the phone's ringtone through the speakers, but I'm starting to think that's a phone issue actually).

I had this problem, I realised that I hadn't created a driver ID profile and for some reason it kept resetting to default. Once I created one and changed some settings and it worked.

I’ve been watching this post out of curiosity but it didn’t click until you said that! Same happened to me, adjusted my heads up display and all sorts of settings, then when next in the car it had all reset. Set up a driver profile (which I was doing anyway) and never thought any more of it. Makes sense now! |

But they haven't changed the mirror dip setting for different markets. It's the same. The switch has to be towards the driver in all markets.

My last 2 Audi’s and my wife’s current 2020 Kia Sportage auto dip the passenger mirror only if the control is set to the left (passenger) mirror, not the drivers which actually makes sense. BMW is the first I’ve ever had this where it needs to be on the drivers side. Example below. Irrelevant, I tried it and it points right to ground, literally as far as it will go.....not a little tilt like others so I don’t use it at all now. Does anyone know if this can be adjusted for a slight tilt only? Last edited by Funboy78; 07-13-2020 at 06:47 AM.. |
