Can't wait to see one in person! My neck will break but hopefully it's a good feeling. I am however wondering why M is being splattered in more places on non-M cars.

This is such spoon-fed BS!
So the head exterior designer starts to fumble the interview by referring to some buyers liking to show off and then detouring to heritage this and heritage that... "Heritage...upright, very strong kidneys in the past. 328, 3.0 CS." ...And then the interviewer almost shits himself as he comes to the E9. You can almost hear it come out as he approaches the car. What do they start out with? Everything BUT the grille. And oh by the way, the E9 does not have 'strong kidneys.' Oh this car will turn heads. But I don't think it will translate into sales, but I've said this before, let us vote with our wallets. We'll see. |

I'm waiting to see how many people will buy this because it's new and has a BMW badge? how many people will lease this because their last lease expired? Some how in this day and age of "followers", it seems like once you establish a brand, no matter how you mess up and destroy it, there will always be blind followers willing to fork out cash for it. I hope to be proven wrong. |

I'm aware that this designer's native language isn't English, but still, he seems to babble and struggle finding stuff that would be new and relevant for us to hear. i.e. his own personal take on the car's design, or a few more insights into the secretive design process, things that we otherwise wouldn't be familiar with. Not again the same overused comments about the bold and expressive grille and how it relates to the old 3.0 CS, or the new interpretation of the Hofmeister kink, which we in the public have already heard 100 times... And we've had the same boring formatted interview type inputs from Dukec and van Hooydonk. You'll find more pertinent, original and thought-provoking remarks and analyses on the forums to be fair

If I was a designer I'd rather someone say "wow" than "wtf", when they first see my design...I can see where they are going with this, everyone used to complain that the cars started looking like Hyundi's all of them were starting to look the same so they had to do something radical... you can radically change the body and make it look crazy amazing but knowing BMW everything uses the same floor platform so all you have left that you can change is the nose and grill...as the guy said, he had to fight hard to put those extra creases in the body due costs...The cheapest way to radically change your cars look and still be cost affective is to change the nose and the grill because it's all plastic...Audi and Lexus did it when people started complaining that their cars were looking too alike between year models

Best BMW design to date?? Please let me know what you are smoking....
This thing is the most radical departure for BMW from a design perspective. There is nothing left that makes it looks like a BMW anymore. Might as well slap a Hyundai badge on it and everyone would flame its ugly as sin. This button nose abomination will never sell like its predecessors. The competition is improving while BMW is releasing this dog poo. Alan

So you named it a "General Motors" kink while I am saying that the kink is "un-BMW".
I guess that we are saying the same thing. Quote:

If it sells then great for BMW and hopefully that means they have more money in the bank to produce M cars that I do like.
This 4 series is just ugly in my eyes and I am a die hard BMW "fanboy" as my friends would call me. Alan

Is the G22 on display at the Welt and is the Welt open? It would be great to have a bimmerpost member or two from Munich heading over there and let us know what they think after seeing it IRL.

Might I also propose they meet up for a couple beers first and then livestream the conversation as they do a walkaround? |

I find it curious that everyone is so focused on the grills, nobody else seems to have caught the live broadcast comments on the all-electric 4. The way he said it implied (to my ears at least) that the G22 would have an all-electric powertrain option. He did not differentiate between the G22 4-series and the i4 as one might have thought.

Not gonna lie, I'd be interested in an all electric G22 if it did 0-60 in < 4 seconds and had at least a 350 mile range. Assuming they kept it under $50k or so anyway to compete with the Tesla Model 3. I'd much prefer a BMW to a Tesla.
