There's also just the general pro-contra of eg. cloth/alcantara/what have you seats vs leather. To each his own. Of course it could just be a selectable no-cost option which upholstery you prefer. It's also a bit strange in my mind equating "luxury" and "premium" with leather. They could just as well put some cheap feeling leather in there by standard or just add the option on top of the base price and call it "included", would that make it better in your eyes? |

My F31 did came with leather included it’s a cheap leather but it’s feel better than leatherette. I find it strange that you now have to pay an extra to get it. If it would be a no-cost option i woudn’t complain but in that particular case it just appear to be nickel and diming from bmw. |

personally I prefer sensatec unless the leather is something really special like nappa. most of the cheaper leathers don't particularly feel special and have a plastic protective layer anyway. the cheaper leather eventually shows stretch marks etc too. my f30 was sensatec and I can't say I'm more happy with Audi standard leather on my current car (and the car I had before the f30).
only thing I don't like is that ambient lighting is with leather. for $1700 though I'll live with it. for me sensatec is preferable to alacantra as well. alacantra absorbs liquid and oils and gets gross |
