If the whole car is close to this I think many will come around.

People are overreacting again as they tend to do. I'll reserve final judgement until I've seen the entire production car, but if it looks close to the concept I'll be ordering one as soon as I can.

If I didn't know that was a BMW concept, I'd be certain that was a Lexus. Also, BMW will never offer a shade of red that nice outside if Individual.

Previous "concepts" for the last generation:

4-Series "Concept"

M4 "Concept"

The final car is going to look 95% like the red car above. Can't wait.

The previous 4 concepts are more realistic though due to having actual production spec mirrors, hood-line, headlights, tail lights, etc. They are pretty much prototype/production spec.

For the current 4 concept, a lot of aspects wouldn't make it to production, like the mirrors, headlights, low hood/hood-line. More like 80% if you ask me, but should look similar but not as good.

Lexus try and try to tighten up their design with a lot of creases to be more like BMW but it doesn’t work, the cars still have that Japanese rounded softness to them and a longer looking front overhang. The concept four, to me looks like a BMW, hofmeister kink or not it has that sharper athletic BMW rwd look no other competitor has.

...it doesnt though, just look at how awful the production 8er is compared to the beautiful concept. The rear end will be decent but thats it, no sculpted sides neither.

We already know how hideous it looks in production, the pix in this thread show a front end for blind people. The M3/M4 may have a slightly different lower valance, but this is it and damn its hideous.

Hard pass

I like the grille on the blue car better than the one on the concept and I dislike the grille on the blue car.
