I mean the HK is ok, but when you listen to the competition, it is an amazing difference, not even close
The Harman Kardon in the G26 sounds fantastic, I am very happy with it. So are thousands of others.

You are dominating in the other thread, a thread designed for the disgruntled and the audiophiles.

I bumped this thread to stay away from the other thread and in the hopes that this could be a conversation about tweaking the existing Harman Kardon system amongst Harman Kardon owners and not as another platform for you to complain. Can you please respect that? Thanks.

Of course. I understand that. All the best, with your Harmon Kardon system and have a nice evening. And thanks for your post. ps, I'm not disgruntled, and not an audiophile; just personally want something that sounds like the similarly priced upgrades from the competition.

Can't say I've tried most of those. My home system is Bowers & Wilkins and I wish it was an option on the G20. Bang and Olufsen system vary quite a bit based on which model Audi you're talking about.

Having said that I'm pretty happy with the H&K system. It's so much better than the Hi-Fi system, generally better than the Bang and Olufsen from my previous S3 (although not as good as the B&O in my wifes A5, mainly losing out on tracks with really heavy bass and on the detail at extreme high frequency).

I'll caveat that by saying I don't listen at particularly high volumes (never over 50%) and I know the S3/A5 B&O systems have much more power, however for my tastes the H&K system has more than enough.

I tweaked the HK and it sounds 100% better than it did prior. Unchecked the Logic 7 surround sound and followed these settings.

The same settings I followed last week, they are brilliant aren’t they?

The HK system in my 2023 M440i is definitely meh especially after paying for audio upgrade on price list and considering the price of the car. I had to update subwoofer (Bavsound) just to make system ok. My prior 2019 MB A220 (less pricey car with price list audio upgrade to Sennheiser) was vastly superior. Come on BMW. You can do better.

I use a much flatter EQ setting but I think the single biggest thing you can do to improve sound qualithy is turn off the Logic 7. I don't even understand what it actually does. I mean I know it 'makes my stereo music into surround sound' but what does that even mean? Its already 'surround sound' because there are speakers all around me.

If it's trying to isolate certain sounds/insturments and send them to specific speakers? If that was done well I could see how it would be a cool novelty and technically impressive but I can't see how that would ever make the music sound better compared to faithfully reproducing the stereo recording. To me it mainly seems to muddy the music and reduce dynamic range. Not exactly desirable traits.

The above eq settings are really bad. At lest for 2019 X3 HK. Maybe for some techno music? They are also theoretically wrong, reducing the already lacking middles. So voices (female in particular) are terrible. Sorry.

That's uncannily similar to settings I'd posted quite a while ago but the important part that's different is the Bass and Treble boost. In my car, those would be way too drastic. The eq settings themselves adequately handle the excessive mids and bass and they attenuate the highs.

An X3 will have a different interior than some of the other models we're discussing, cases where the mids are actually dominant, not lacking. Excessive mids (or a lack of bass and treble, depending on how we decide to view this) is common in mobile audio.

That’s a 5 year old SUV and we’re specifically discussing the acoustics of a brand new Coupe/Sedan.

Fwiw - my post above was regarding adjusting the EQ settings in my wife's '22 X3MC & it sounds great. I don't have the HK system in my 330e, so I can't compare the sound to her vehicle. Don't know how it differs from a '19 X3 though.

How did your wife end up with an X3M and you got a 330?

IMO, my Jeep was "louder", but not necessarily better.

Well, if you use iPhone, I recommend the use of the Rock eq settings in the phone, then, just adjust the HK eq.

Has been my solution and I like it a lot.

For those with Harman Kardon who wish to increase sound quality markedly, these settings which I got from poster zazzau are just brilliant. And, importantly, don't require any coding.

Begin by turning Logic 7 to OFF and follow the photos from there. Just amazed by how much better it sounds. Enjoy!

Hmmm..to each their own I guess. Tried these settings and it sounded like crap (IMO). Sounded like a weak signal FM station. Everyone's ear is different when processing sounds. I love the immersive sound of Logic 7.
