That is the other part we can not calculate, how many manuals are NOT for sale or on sale.

Valid point.

Now if only they could make it sound good. The F82 is one of the worst sounding cars in this class!

Food for thought, there are 82 M3s (F80s) for sale, only 2 of them are manual.

There are 179 M4s for sale ATM, 13 of them are manual.

Manual is dying? people are not buying, especially when the autos are delivering so much more...."performance" when compared.^

Personally, as much as i love manuals....i think they suit the last get M cars much better (the NA engines), something about shifting at 8K+ rpms yourself is much more satisfying, it suited the car. New gen....manuals feel and even sound a bit off.
Not sure where you live but here in bay area I see more than 50 % of dealers cars are Manual....

I had a fully loaded 650i. Beautiful looking car, luxury interior, and a nice twin turbo V8. I got so bored driving the car. Now, I know I'm in a small percentage group, but I need to feel connected to the car I'm driving. I bought one my dream cars -- e39 M5. The best M5 ever made IMHO. The 650i doesn't even compare to the balance, engine, and handling of this car. Yes, I know the 6 wasn't a M car, but engine, feel, steering is so much better. I finally realized I can't go back to autos and forced induction engines. There will always be faster M cars with more torque and automated features, but I don't think they'll ever compare to the older models.

We are the last ones to have grown up adoring gas powered cars. The new generation will not be interested anymore.
My nephew just turned 18 and doesn't care to drive.

He asked for a game console for his 18 birthday lol.

You are wrong. This is from the current list of M2s for sale in the USA on cars.com.

In my opinion, MT is more like a belief to the enthusiasts nowadays, but in the business sense, MT models should have been dead years ago. I think BMW does so just to satisfy those enthusiasts because their attitudes and reviews to the driving experience are somewhat very important for the business image of BMW in the high-end market competition.

By the time he gets the full experience under his belt, 10-15 years down the line, manual and automated gearboxes along with the ICE will go the way of the dodo, replaced by electric cars with single speed gearing. And yes, automated pilots.

But at least he'll have fun those ten years.
I did the same last month. I've only driven manuals for the last 20 years and my 15 yr old has been begging to teach him. Finally put him in my E90 and went for it. Definitely a memorable experience. Now he wants a manual E36, which I'm hunting down and I couldn't be happier.

I don't think BMW or Porsche markets them correctly. Tons of old is new tech is popular with hipsters wanting something "real"

But what do they market? The M town commercials is an m5 slapping paddles drifting around a coffee stand.

Obviously many of us would. 991.1 R's became seven figure cars and still trade for double the price of PDK 991.1 GT3's.

Look at the price of the last Ferrari's with manuals. The 7 599's with manuals trade for 7-10x the price of F1 versions. Even the turd of a California sells for huge prices with a manual.

40% of M3's in the USA are manual. Very few in Europe. So in terms of the USA, manuals are very desirable in the right cars.
