That makes sense. But I don’t think I have the patience to do that. After coming from a car that had a piggyback and intake, my car feels slow at the moment even though it is fun in other departments.

You’re brave, what are you running RON 98 or AKI (USA pump) 93?

And I run AKI 93 religiously. In my A4, I used to use an E30 blend once in a while and my car felt faster then (not sure if it was a placebo effect or not). Never did it when it was stock though. |

Quote below is from an old Subaru thread back in 2009 by Phil from Element Tuning that is pretty well respected in the industry. Be careful out there fellas, not that much room for error, don’t blow up your engines for the 25-50 HP, probably not worth it. Would love to see some more experienced tuners chime in here. “I think what you guys should keep in mind is that the difference between tuners that don't have a reputation of blowing up cars is about +/-2 degrees of timing, +/- 2 psi of boost, and +/-.3 AFR. 1 or 2 degrees too much advance can mean the difference between a blown engine and an engine that lasts for years. 1 degrees of ignition timing is about 25C in exhaust gas temp change if anyone is interested.” |

Not planning on starting a new thread since there’s already one here (and g20beam has moved on to BM3).
I got my JB+ today. Huge shout out to Mike@x-ph who has been extremely helpful in more ways than one (answering ALL my PMs on time, sending out the JB+ ASAP and refunding my money for the BM3 tune). Installed the JB+ after opening it to check if the arrow was as in all the PDFs I’ve seen online (it wasn’t. It was like how g20beam said it was in his - arrow was pointed to the brighter blue dot (towards the right when you look at the JB+ from bottom up) just above the max, not straight up pointed to the middle dot of the three bright blue dots). Before installation, I followed the PDF to a T. I opened the hood, left the car locked and put the key away for more than an hour to let the ECU go to sleep and prevent any error codes being registered by the ECU if it didn’t go to sleep. As luck would have it, I managed to break the clip on the wiring harness of the TMAP sensor (looks like the Bimmer gods absolutely don’t want me to mess with this car) when I tried to unplug it. Luckily, it clips on perfectly to the JB+ and even stays in place. A quick google showed that quite a few people have managed to break it trying to install a piggyback. For the time being, I’ve left it as is since the clip locks into place. Started the car after praying to all the Gods I knew. Luckily, no drivetrain error or CEL popped up. Backed the car out of the garage and I could notice a difference (which I thought was a placebo effect). Drove it around a bit and I definitely noticed the increase in power. Car definitely pulls harder than stock. Drove it around in sport mode for a bit and surprisingly, sport didn’t feel as jerky as it did in stock. I only drove it for a mile or two but the difference is obvious. I need to drive her around a bit more for the piggyback to adapt (if that is a thing). But yes. Initial impressions are positive. I’ll also check the sport gauge and see if it registers more power compared to stock (my stock went upto ~255hp at full throttle). One thing I feel is that the 330i (base) needs better brakes, especially if it has a bump in power. TL;DR - If you’re looking at getting a bump in power for a couple hundred $$s, JB+ is the way to go. It can also be used as a stop gap before you decide on getting a proper tune but you’re worried for some reason |

Ambient temp today was 28F. No idea about the humidity but I’ll check IF I can get myself to remember that, tomorrow. 93 AKI fuel. |

All of you running the JB+. Have y’all turned the arrow to max? If so, any issues you’ve noticed? If not, why not? I’ve got it at the 3 o clock position (default is supposed to be 12 o clock but in mine, it was at 3). Wondering if I should just bump it up to max in a few days.

So installed a JB+ today as well. Thanks to VipinLJ for the tips and answering my PM. The hardest part, by far, is getting that damn stock clip off. I was able to slide the grey part of the clip completely off, and even then it was a struggle to wiggle it off. It finally came off though, and was a breeze thereafter.
I placed mine basically at around 1:30 (between noon and the default 3 o clock position). This seems to be right around 60-65% from max. I haven't driven it hard, but no CEL, still smooth around town. I took one or two aggressive take offs, and it feels like it pulls harder, and the amount of hesitation is much smaller. It definitely feels like the torque is higher at low RPMs. Also: my fuel is 92 Octane (Costco Top Tier gas in Washington State). Overall, pretty nice upgrade for very little money. Will take it off when I go in for dealer visits, obviously because I think it will be really fast to take on/off. May wait a while until after my next oil change to consider increasing further, but i'm pretty happy so far. Last edited by pneumodoc; 01-08-2020 at 09:24 PM.. |

And yes. It works for sure. I’ve read mixed opinions about whether there was an adaptation period or not. But yea. Looking forward to taking her out sometime soon for a longer spin. And if all is well, I’ll bump it up to max and see what happens |

I guess I’ll bump it up to max in a few days once I get bored of 75%. Did a few WOT runs today. Had the sport gauges on just for giggles. 1. HP marking goes upto around 280 on the display (smack in the middle of the 240 and 320 marking). Previously, without the juice box, it used to read slightly above 240. Definitely not in the middle of 240 and 320. 2. I’ve got the TQ gauge to display in Nm instead of lbft since I’m used to Nm. Weirdly, our cars supposedly have 400Nm (295lbft) from the factory. I don’t remember what it showed before the JB+. But now, with JB+, at WOT, it didn’t even touch 400. It stopped at around 380-390 on the gauge. 3. Idk what the stock boost is, nor do I remember what it used to show on the gauge. But now, it read more than 15psi (I’m guesstimating around 17-18 psi since it was closer to 20 than the midpoint between 10 and 20 (which is 15psi)). I also drove the car around town in sport mode, with the transmission in S too. Before JB+, I actually preferred driving it in comfort mode since the car was really jerky and throttle was twitchy (sensitive) in sport. But now, it actually feels smoother in Sport. I honestly have no idea how that happened, since I assumed it would be slightly jerkier as all the box did was to mess around with the boost. But yes. So far, no regrets. |

With a Bootmod3 stage 1 tune, I’d expect the G20 330 to run with the F30 340i. I believe the stock quarter mile times aren’t even that far off.

https://www.automobile-catalog.com/p...teptronic.html - this states 13.2 Either way, if the G20 330 is putting down 13.9's - i'd say that's pretty impressive when comparing to the previous gen 340. |
