And again…. yes you can. CTEK even provide a specific function for it on their chargers. But I suppose you still disagree

I agree with Raptorstrike. Any lead-acid battery will benefit from reconditioning, include AGM.

And also i personally killed 2 agms with recond. 1 used for car and 1 ups. Charged them a few times before and they performed normally. After recond they held charge for max 2 days. But, as said by someone here, it is your batt...so do as you prefer.

You’re quoting another forum. I posted the official CTEK manual. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Again a forum quote rather than an official response from CTEK who have a specific AGM recondition function.

If you continually recondition the battery then it can damage it and CTEK themselves say that. You should only recondition the battery once a year and whenever it’s had a deep discharge.

I only reconded once! I also have a Ctek which came with manual. If i remember correctly it stated agm recond is for Ca/ca battery. Agm was not mentioned.

I wrote clearly that it is an alleged ctek statement which allegedly came from ctek support answering an user email request. I have no proof this ever came from ctek.

I have no clue as to the veracity but this article may be what you were thinking of, it says the CTEK AGM Recond mode is for Calcium batteries.

This is where that ‘alleged’ support statement has come from.

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1663141

You can pretty much ascertain from the wording and way it’s written it hasn’t come from CTEK support. More it’s someone’s opinion. It makes no sense whatsoever that CTEK have a SPECIFIC AGM Recon setting, then say they don’t recommend it.

You can buy a MXS 5.0 now, today, which still has the same setting. Don’t you think they would have removed the setting if they advised against it?

My MXS 7.0, whilst not having a specific AGM recon setting (you just have normal, AGM/winter, supply and Recon) it does not anywhere in the manual not to Recon a AGM battery.

Which you can read for yourself here

https://www.ctek.com/storage/683076F...-low-UK-EN.pdf

This link says AGM recon can also be done.

https://www.batteryskills.com/can-ag...itioned/?amp=1

And here is another

https://howtoreconditionbatteries.org/agm-battery/

And another.

https://batterymanguide.com/how-to-r...n-agm-battery/

Point here is you will find just as much argument for as against.

So in this scenario I tend to take advice from battery and battery charger manufacturers. Not some here say from another forum where someone is trying to pass off an opinion as fact.

Ok, one last reply from my side: of all of your links only one describes recondition process (discharging and recharging). Desulphurisation process is one additional process, stressing the anode with voltage pulsations. The latter is carried out always by Ctek in normal mode (not recond). Your other links clearly dont discus recond in the meaning debated here. They describe dead agm batt revival by tricking the charger to start even at levels below 6V (its a known method, used for any batt, not agm related. As i said before: it is your batt, do what you want. I accepted no-recond warning years ago, and my experience with reconding agm is bad. Kind regards.

The CTEK manual you linked shows that you should not use Recond for AGM batteries and seems to back up the article I linked saying AGM Recond is for Calcium batteries not AGM batteries. The email attributed to CTEK support likely is from them as it follows what their user manual says.

Edit: The MXS 5.0 manual also states it is for WET and CA/CA.
