G2x - dealer software updates vs. over the air updates
With all the chat on this forum regarding issues people are having with CarPlay, Bluetooth connections, etc., I have read here (and heard from some local friends) that they are bringing their cars into the dealer for a software update which can take from a couple of hours to a day.
I thought that on the G2x (and other newer models) that all software is upgradable over the air. Or am I missing something?

There are iDrive updates, which are OTA, but there are lower-level "firmware" level car updates that impact things such as the turbo performance, which can only be upgraded at your dealer. Perhaps someone with more technical experience can shed more light. |

I had the same question
Also is there a bmw website that will announce release dates what is included in the next release? I have been told we will also get a phone notification if you have the connected app BTW the dealer. 60 update does not fix everything |
