M performance side skirts

I have some genuine side skirts to fit, I plan to do this with 3M tape and some self tapping screws.

Can anybody recommend some suitable fixings?

Do people also use any other adhesive such as the betalink?

I have the m performance kit and I have installed 2 of them on my own cars. I personally wouldn't use self tapping screws as you will have to drill into the underside of the car to make the holes.

I used 3m automotive tape and tiger seal. It's been on for nearly a year and still rock solid.

Use the 3m tape on the underside. If you used it on the outside then the sill wouldn't be flush with the car due to the thickness of the tape. Use the tiger seal for the side.

I work for 3M - the tape provide in the kit will be spot on, no need to drill holes - unless you want to...clean both surfaces first to be sure is clean and apply good pressure after bonding...

Had mine fitted by BMW - Was a joke

Don't use 3M tape or this happens. Use tiger seal so it a) sticks and b) is flush to body

Should there have been tape provided? Mine came from BMW and all they sent was the plastic rivets?

I was going to order some VHB tape

There is no tape provided and there will be a gap if a sealant isn’t used. They aren’t the easiest to fit at all due to the contours involved.

Use the same process here as I mentioned. However you will need help to get it aligned. I also bought 'C' clamps from screwfix to hold the sides in whilst it bonds, the larger black bit at the side of the bumper.

That's a poor job by BMW. They shouldn't have used tape at that part of the side sill, as the tape is thicker than the inside bit of the sill, so it won't be flush. I used tiger seal at this area and its flush and holds tight.
I have used a combination of 3m tape and tiger seal and it's pefect. Even the factory boot lip is held down with tape. So in certain parts it tape will do its job.

That's what they have done after I rejected the car. Looks perfect now

Thats what came in my kit beta link

I bought the complete kit and it came with a box of tape, clips, beta link all sorts. I just gave to BMW to fit and had no idea where each product is used

But as others have said, don't tape the sides on as the tape will cause the sides not sit 100% flush and in my case even started to come apart.

I suppose they would recommend beta link as it's there branded product, so more £££ for them. Beta is permanent, I managed to use a hairdryer along with a plastic trim tool to remove excess tiger seal and it came off.
I would say its not permanent but gives a strong bond.
