Can you give me like a walkthrough or a step by step of your process for installing. It got delivered today and I just wanna make sure I’ll get it done properly

Instead of swapping shifter I swapped entire car. Id8/no shifter/no laser lights drove me insane

Glad I found this thread. How has it been working? Is any coding needed? I have no idea how to code, and from what I understand there is no more coding on 2024 LCI vehicles.
Any advice on this swap will be appreciated!
And FB wont accept me either!

Nope, plug n play. Just look up a video on how to remove the center console trim and after you do that it’s just four t20s and it comes off. Then you just unplug the two wires connecting and just install the new shifter.

Thanks, I have disassembled and reassembled the center consule twice, each time failing to disconnect the two wires that are plugged into their harness. I'm going to try my third time today now that I found a video of how one of the wires unlatches from its harness. The other seems to be just a very typical connection that I just can't get to budge. I've disconnected the battery each time, but the second time I failed my attempt and then put everything back together again, after connecting the battery, I had an alert that my parking break malfunctioned and my vehicle wouldn't respond or turn off for about 2 to 3 minutes. I then locked everything up and came back in five minutes and it's back to normal. I don't know what I did to cause that but of course now I'm hesitating going back in for a third time. I've read the stories on here of how people have bricked their car making a swap. Again appreciate the community help and any more advice is much appreciated.

Yeah the parking break doesn’t work when you’ve disconnected the parking break wire from the unit 😭. Idk how you could possibly brick your car from two wires, would be impressive honestly. Literally just unplug the wire, if I’m remembering right one you just squeeze the tabs and pull the latch back and it comes off other one I think you just pull out. I think your overthinking it a lil.

Tried this today and completed the pre-lci selector swap with some struggle (front clips and pink connector). The pre-lci shift lever works but not any of the buttons. Does the module need an update? anyone have insight on how to get these to work? Car is '23 LCI

You most likely didn’t connect one of the connections on the bottom correctly. That one with the lever might seem like it clicked it but it might still be hanging out.

Completely different. Those are knock offs. This is the entire 6 or 7 pieces that make there entire console to swap in and out. The handle new from BMW is over 1k, the knob new from bmw is over 1k, and then installing those pieces are much more difficult if you watch the videos.
This is authentic OEM BMw

Here is one for Sale on ebay and it doesn’t even have all the functions available like lowering and lifting suspension.

Here is the shifter on IND:

OK, the ones I'm talking about are definitely oem and not knock offs but they arent glass like that one. They are the OEM g20 pre-lci m340 consoles a bunch of guys have bought on here. They are taken off of cars not brand new from BMW where you'd surely pay more than I'm talking about I'd imagine. What your selling maybe isnt compatible with the 3 series youre posting in. Thats the confusion. our suspensions dont raise etc.

The ones on eBay aren’t knock offs, they’re from crashed bmws so they’re significantly cheaper. New from bmw the g20 shifters are also ridiculously expensive.

If I posted In the wrong forum I apologize. I know this shifter works on the X4, X5,X6, X7. I assumed it worked on the X3 as well. I will confirm and delete the post if It shouldn’t be in this forum.
Thanks for pointing it out!

I'm in the middle of this swap now but seem to be stuck. Anyone know how to remove the CPU harness (small red one) from the bottom of the shifter? I have tried almost everything and I cant get this thing to budge. I attached an image of it.

That’s odd, from what I remember that one just pulls right out. It’s the other larger one that had a tab type thing you have to undo to get out.

That one pulls right out. I had the same problem as you. It was really tough to pull it out, so I had to use needle nose pliers to wiggle it out. Just make sure to to pull by the wires themselves!
The one with the latch was a problem for me too. I had to find YouTube videos for that one.

Thanks! Was afraid of messing something up with that one. I just gave it hell and it eventually came out.
