I have a C7Z now and yes i have driven 911's. My neighbor has a GT3. It's a sick car.

I never said they were the same car. I am correcting when someone said the z06 is not a track car.

Didn't anyone watch the reveal video? The z06 was a code for all the track options you could put on your corvette. It later brand it's own variant. A TRACK variant.

My favorite car is the GT2RS.

Insane insane car. And if i had the money, i'd have that, and still get a C8Z as an addition.

But it's great GM can offer what z06's can do for 100k or under.

Gotta love GM!!!

No one knows the msrp yet. Historically the Z06 lists for $25k premium over base Vette. Most publications have an estimate of $85k for C8 Z06. A 718 GT4 msrp is $101k. Apples to apples GT4 with pdk is $104k.

And 1.5xMSRP is a good estimation of how much a Porsche really costs...

not everyone cares about hp and performance metrics. (if you do thats fine. more power to you. i used to chase numbers but more important imo is how YOU feel looking at the car in your garage and how you feel driving it for whatever the purpose is).

both of them picked the 4 cylinder cayman over the base c8. My GTR ran a 10.4 with bolt ons... still preferred driving my toyota 86.

also the GT4-RS is coming. but who knows how expensive they will be.

I actually inquired about the gt4rs at my local Porsche dealership and was told that they don't anticipate having additional units to sell, as there is already a significant wait list full of established customers. They said that it will be a very low production vehicle, so likely unobtanium for a regular guy off the street like me.

Agree and a flat plane crank V8 that revs to 8600 and sounds the way it does, has to feel simply amazing. Quite literally might go down as one of the best, if not the best NA V8 built for a production car. They are a dying bread.

GM has given people the opportunity to own a supercar, without spending supercar money. The C7 lineup couldn't get to that status.

The C8 did. Especially with the z06.

Mid engine, DCT, exotic HAND built engine that sounds like a ferrari. 670hp making it the most powerful V8 in a production car.

Like if you're going to cross shop a z06 with a porsche, at least make it a notable porsche. Not a GT4 as good as that is. That will never be on the same league as z06 cars. Hasn't in the past and sure as hell will not be with the C8Z.

I do agree a GT4 is slightly better than a BASE stingray. Slightly better.

Park both anywhere and the C8 will draw more attention, if that's your thing. If it is, another perk.

Unless you live on the amalfi coast, anyone taking a 4 banger over a C8 needs medical treatment. And I hate the shape of the C8 as you all know.

I can appreciate your enthusiasm, yet let's keep in mind the C8 only gained traction due to the style associated with the mid engine.

For someone like myself that has more 9 and 10sec cars than I can drive in 1 day, I appreciate brute power combined with speed, which honestly why Mopar has 100% unmatched dominated the high horsepower market. Hell just the TRX alone sold over 15,000 units in the first yr.

If track oriented focus was the desire for the average C8 buyer they likely would be seeking alternatives. The draw of the C8 is just as you said, style on a budget which is great for a consumer.

The Z06 label is marketing at its finest and a 600+ horsepower NA motor is an inefficient ploy to seek bragging rights.

We talk about the ring time projections..... if it has the MPG to make the full lap lol.

Big blocks are also stressed internally as compared to smaller NA motors.....

Just a run down of then top horsepower motors... common denominator is FI.

I completely disagree with this.

If you've been to track day in the last 8 years you'd see HPDE events these days are largely attended by Corvettes and Camaros. The Cx Zs dominate, at least the well driven ones anyway. They are the track weapon of choice for those seeking consistent, fast lap times.

High HP means nothing if you can't cool it for hot lap after hot lap after hot lap. Chevy NA V8s will give you the same performance and blistering lap time all day long. No matter the heat. FI engines loose performance through the day. That's why Dodge has to divert AC to cool inlet air, and that only works for so long. That's the beauty of an NA motor, cooling it is much easier.

And yes, let's talk Ring lap times. I project 7:05. And it will do about 6 of those, consistently before running out of gas. Won't heat soak like a TT I6 does.

C8 is a HUGE car compared to GT4.
The only thing that it has going for it is the better engine sound.

In every other category- styling, engineering, handling, build quality, fun to drive etc - GT4 is hands down winner.

C8 is nice car for what it is but it still caters to a demographic of old men playing golf rather ones going to the track. Its just 2 different philosophies. GT4 is the more raw, true driving experience which is what I prefer.

Outside of absolute numbers - performance benchmarks and price points - there is no apples-to-apples competitor for this C8 Z06.
This is the type of car you get if you want a package that represents the best of yesterday.
A brand new car in this decade with a dual clutch transmission, high-rev/8600rpm, high specific output NA V8, bespoke flat-plane engine, mid-engined/RWD architecture, and that sound, in an attainable package.

For those who can also admire them, the exterior/interior design, removable top, and heritage of the Corvette are just cherries on top.

Hats off to all the folks at GM that fought and put blood, sweat, and tears to make this happen.

His posts has no relevance to this thread. He's obviously a corvette hater that's why he came into this thread lol.

His quick stereotype of corvette owners was proof alone that no matter what facts you throw at him, he'll just name any other car and say that's better lmao. I hope to see pics of his GT3 or GT4 or whatever porsche he wants to nutride next and post them here so we can see those awesome cars.

Fact is, GM does all that, for half the cost. With a better soundtrack.

GM now has a supercar in their hands to offer the general public.

670hp
flat plane crank V8 (all other manufacturers are downsizing their engines)
ferrari sound
8600rpm
mid engine
supercar looks
widebody
GM reliability (which is better than porsche)

All that for 100k, or even less, depending on how much GM wants to price this car at. I'm guessing it'll start around 90-95k.

A fucking bargain of a lifetime. So much car, so little money.

Some people are clueless when it comes to corvettes lol.

GM also said the C8Z is set to match the ZR1 trap speed time in the 1/4 which is 134.

This car is the real deal. This isn't some botched up car GM had to put together last minute like the C7Z. And i have one, it's an incredible car.

But the C8Z was meant to be the way it is from day 1. They did this car RIGHT.

Like just the soundtrack alone, is worth whatever GM is charging.

Didn't even know that's that they said! So my projection should be pretty close

Really looking forward to see this car dominate my '18 SS1LE at the track. I will want to stay as close as possible to hear that exhaust note for sure
