Noisy pedal, knocking noise in engine bay.... just had a call from dealer with good news and bad news.
Good news was that the techs heard the noise, tried a brand new car and it too had the noise, so it's normal and nothing to worry about. The bad news was unrelated...my PDC wasn't working. Apparently a stone had hit the senor and busted it. Last time I use BMW dealers - well actually I seem to have a service plan for one more year - as I've got a super indy around the corner from me, and not miles away like the 2 nearest dealers are.

Well they've looked at the spring in the servo and it looks fine, so we'll see what happens. Wil talk to my indy one of these days to see what he says.
Funny how dealing with dealers always seems to zap the enthusiasm of owning the car.

Mine had end of warranty check last week. It wasn’t doing it! The service manager has recorded the issue on their database and assured he will sort it in the future if / when it starts doing it again!

Hi, I have been having the same issue with my m340i. It all started when I took it to the main dealer for new brake pads and brake fluid change. As soon as I picked the car up the noise was there. The car has been back and forth to BMW for the last 6 months. I was made to feel like an idiot by the head mechanic, and that this was a normal noise. But I wasn't willing to accept this. Anyhow, I took the car back today, and they're now saying BMW has released there is a fault for this on the 26th June. Apparently, the fix, is to bleed the brakes. They are carrying this out tomorrow. So, fingers crossed, this will fix the issue........I'm not holding my breath though

Sorry it has taken me too long to post again on this topic. On a test drive, the dealer tech could hear the noises and after some investigation, on the ramp, the noise was tracked down to the steering rack. The rack and tie rod ends have been replaced under extended warranty. After several weeks of driving the issue has not reoccurred. I hope this helps others.
