I like it. To me the g20 seems to do well with the darker colors. I thought the f30, and especially the f36 did well with lighter colors like silver. It went better with the lines of the car.

Thanks. Despite what people are writing on this thread, I love the car. In comfort mode the ride is much more comfortable than my f30 340. In sport mode the car car is a beast. The engine is awesome. Enormous power and grip. The steering tightens up a lot in sport mode. While I agree the grill is a little funky I think its a great looking car. The interior is well thought out and very roomy. I can feel the difference from the f30. BMW assistant works great. There are some weird quirks like shutting off the ac and you need apple car play to get and receive messages. That really bothers me. I think the car is a big step up from the f30.

Am I missing something? I've seen a few comments about turning off the ac. Is the M340 different than the 330i? Our 330i has this button right in the middle.

That will shut off all air flow. AC and outside air and the fan. Menu AC takes you to a climate menu where on the second page is an AC off box. There is also a AC max hard button that puts the temp to low and fan on max. No easily off button that I can see. I hope someone can tell me Im wrong

Not wrong...here's the owner's manual instructions. Maybe one of the buttons can be programmed to turn on/off?

Curious, what is the need to turn of AC?
I set mine at 70 and it knows when to blow cold and when hot. Also it continuously conditions the air like for moisture

some people might want to drive with the windows or roof open and may not want it zapping power unnecessarily?

I'm not sure if their discounting it but assuming you can get invoice, your looking at like 740 a month lease with tax. With only a 1-2k discount, your looking at over 800 a month and this is all before you start adding m perf parts.

You could find a brand new, 2018 M3 Comp for around ~75k. Get it around 65-68k, your lease payment would be the same if not lower than than the 2020 340i. Low to mid 700s.
Some may also consider cross-shopping a 540 depending on whether you most value:
- Newest thing
- Latest tech
- Warranty
- Quality materials
- Compliance
- Interior design
- Exterior design
- Interior room
- Exterior size
- Driving dynamics
- Straight line/passing power
- X-drive
- Price point

A brand new 540 M Sport can be had low 60s and has best tech, materials, compliance, equivalent warranty, and latest platform. I also prefer its design to that of 340. Weight is surprisingly close to 340.

M3 is clear driving dynamics/power leader, but lags 340 on tech and compliance. M3 has better exterior design than 340, IMO, and worse interior, IMO. In my view, many would rule it out as a daily due to suspension tuning and interior noise.

I had been waiting for M340 but decided to get a lightly used 2016 M3 w/ 27k miles. $49k including extended warranty to 100k. Will take another look at M340 at LCI.

sure, but why use the a/c on heat with the windows down other than unnecessarily zapping power?

Not always a "dry" heat here. But gas and electricity are so cheap I never think about it. I leave all my house lights on 24/7.

Went to the lot this sunday and saw an M340i xDrive in Mineral White and one in Mineral Gray.

Also sat in the interior and its nice but I do have some nits to pick. All the leather materials feel great, but the plastics need improvement. The top of the dash isn't the best material, but feels less cheap than the F30 but weirdly the X3 has a nicer stitched top dash/door pannels and the 3 doesn't while still being the same price, (could this be a sansatec package?). The door armrest no longer has stitching but still feels nice, but could be a tiny bit cushier. The bottom plastics are still too cheap (not just a problem with the 3, many BMW's have this. I sat in a $130k 8 convertible, and the lower plastics were barely soft, and embarrassing for a car of that price to even have it), and my leg hits a plastic piece by the cup holders and can be seen in photo #9 below (the plastic didn't feel too tightly pieced together, felt loose and the piece would move around) I remember even the E46 (even with leatherette) would have a soft touch knee rest. Other than the bottom plastics the interior is nice, but I do wish they would improve the materials, especially since the car I sat in was $63k, and wasn't fully loaded (missing executive package). Also hopefully we get the shadow-line package, the cerium gray doesn't fit the car and gets dirty easily and requires a different cleaning process.

Here's some pics
