I don't know what you mean by boosted in one go.
The m50 is very quick.

I'm on the list. Hoping driving assist pro gets added back to the edrive40.

Markup

I just ordered an i4 m50. The dealer markup was $2,500 over MSRP.

My trade in value isn’t taxable though, so that saved me $3,200

I was told 6-12 months. I’m in Cleveland OH area.

I wouldn't pay over MSRP for and ordered car. I'd look for a different dealer. Charging a markup on something that someone has to wait for is just simply gouging.

I can understand if they have a car in stock. But ordering and waiting?

I was thinking the same thing. A dealer near me is asking $10k mark up on new orders for an August production slot. I still find that ridiculous but maybe slightly less so since they have a production slot open. This whole mark up thing is out of control. It's just going to make customers want direct to consumer car sales from manufacturers even more.

These "market adjustments" leave bad taste and it's not like they aren't making money.

Charging $10k basically to cut in line; because an August slots is definitely someone's cancelled slot. What they should be doing is moving the next person in line up a position and sticking new people at the rear of the queue. But if they did that how could they exploit a cancelled order?

Then they wonder why we call them "stealers".

Most people that order the car do not pay over MSRP. Might also want to confirm that the dealer isn't trying to sell you "mandatory" addons.

It's really crazy when you think about the economics. The profit dealers used to make was at most selling price less invoice price. Invoice was usually only a few thousand below MSRP so after discounting cars, dealers made a few hundred to a few thousand max on each car sale. They're now selling cars at MSRP so are keeping the full amount between invoice and MSRP, and these huge mark ups are pure profit. Dealers would probably argue they're doing less volume now so overall don't make as much money, but the amount of profit they're generating on each sale is really crazy.

By the way, that dealer selling Aug slots at a $10k markup says they have 7 slots left. This may be all of their August slots and I wouldn't be surprised if they're not moving any customers up the line who have been waiting for months and paying MSRP.

I'm in Michigan and didn't pay over MSRP. Your dealer is ripping you off

A dealer that used to sell 300 cars a month at an average profit of 1,200 made $ 360,000 in gross profit.
Now dealer is selling 50 cars a month , they have the same infrastructure, they need to increase average profit to $ 7,200 per car

No, that dealer needs to change the way they do business. Marking up cars above MSRP isn't the solution.

They don't do it by marking up over msrp, but by selling at msrp

This is the first car I've ever paid MSRP for. I would never pay that much over MSRP. The car depreciates once you drive it off the lot so now you're at least $10k in the hole. That's just stupidity. But, hey, a fool and his money is soon parted.

I have a similar feature on our Tesla and am lukewarm about it. I only use it when on the freeway and am staying in one lane for a while but even then I still need to tap the steering wheel often and be aware of the other drivers who still do ridiculous things. It's fine but I wouldn't pay for it.
