I wouldn't call mine the "best G20 track build". It's more like the "only G20 track build".

Haha yes, either way. The only G20 I’ve seen that has the extent amount of parts

Huh, I’ve never ran Kumho tires for track before, only street. I’ll have to check those out as well as the Nankang that Jackie Ding swears by.
The AR1? Those are 100tw semi slicks and a big step up from the 200tw tires I’m using right now. I don’t think you’d want to do any street miles on an AR1. The V730 is still ok for some street driving but it’s not really designed for that. I used to run Goodyear SC3R, they're great tires (OEM on Camaro ZL1 1LE track set up), but they’re always out of stock and you can get maybe 3 days out of a set of tires.

This is the Kumho V730 mounted to my track wheels.

I think that getting faster tires introduces more problems though; you'll need track alignment and stiffer suspension setup to reduce roll.
I think it may be the 4th session? It was the one right after lunch. A question: was he driving with traction control on? I didnt see any wheel spin... I get a ton of wheel spin in my M340i when I turn traction control off.

I'm working on sub 2 min on Sonoma... Need more driver mod. I'll run 1:47 at Laguna and 2:08 at Thunderhill East cyclone but Sonoma is just slower for me.

Yeah it was right after lunch. He's not confident enough at Sonoma to turn it off completely so he keeps it at DTC on (1 press). He was able to put down a low 59 in the morning, and I think the car can do a 56/57-ish with a seasoned driver. I know a stock supra can do a 53, so a 56/7 for a +400lb supra with less lateral grip (mainly due to tires) kinda makes sense.

I'm fairly confident my car in its current form can do <51 at Sonoma, but I'm not sure about sub 50. I'll have to get a good driver in it to confirm.

My friend, the yellow S2000 in front during this video is running a 1:50 at Sonoma. S2000 is cheat mode at Sonoma with aero. So light and so much downforce.

Makes me want to get back into a smaller lighter car. The M3 is by far the biggest and heaviest car I have tracked.

S2ks are one of the best track cars, and since I usually run with speedsf, there's always at least a couple in the open passing groups that are monsters. The weight of the G20 definitely limits its potential overall, but it's fast enough. I've also been told that it's a really good car to learn with since it's on the lower end of the "high hp" range (fast but not dangerous), the longer wheelbase makes it easier to correct, and 50/50 weight distribution is a good starting point.

As this is my first car I've taken to the track, I can't really say how true all of that is though lmao.

I think you can say that about any BMW M car or in your case the M340i. They all got the good weight distribution, power and forgiving nature. I guess besides some short wheelbase BMW like the Supra and Z3/4.

I'm very tempted to take my M340i to the track some time. I think it'll do a few laps fine, I don't know about doing whole sessions. My street set up is running a piggyback tune with 245 square Potenza Sport 300tw tires with Project Mu performance pads and Castrol SRF brake fluid.

I personally think the new M cars have way too much power though haha.

I recommend turning off the piggyback on track because you'll likely get a drivetrain malfunction as you push it. When I started tracking, I had a JB+ on a low boost setting, and eventually the ECU got sick of overboosting and threw the wrench on me and stayed on limp mode.

Haha, yeah... 500+whp with AWD, they're more drag monsters than track day cars. Based on the videos that Jackie Ding is doing, the M2 looks pretty good though.

That is good to know. I've never tracked on it. My Dinan may be better as it has more inputs to read than the JB+. i.e. it won't ask for full boost at low throttle since it reads throttle sensor position. I may go the flash route now that they have a way to do it at home now. But I also feel like CA 91 octane has little to gain because the gas is so bad.
