OMG, I noticed the Dodge Dart similarities too right before I saw this...
I wonder if BMW did? Sheesh. Downhill fast.

I'm not a CLA fan, but I do like GLA45.

Mercedes' A45/CLA45/GLA45 AMG models has by far the best engine over Audi or BMW competitors.

May not have the right looks... but isn't it the size of sedan/saloon many have been crying out for? A 4-door car, similar in size to earlier 3-series models.

Yes indeed.

A smaller more useful city car.

They will sell because of their smaller footprint alone.

As soon as I saw pics of this thing I thought that's a squished X4/X6 bum. I don't like it on either of those vehicles and that extends here as well.

the lines are part way in between GT and SAC rather than GC to me. Overall not a bad try I think.

It will be interesting to see what it drives like. I much prefer 6 cylinder RWD, but my eldest rightly said, don't judge it (M235i) until you have tried it.

I guess he has a point. He has a 3 cylinder, DSG, 999cc 110hp Polo, which has surprised even me!

The problem with this car is that it looks like every other company's shared platform car. It looks like a modern-day hatchback/"crossover" up front and has the same proportions. The rear is ugly as others have mentioned because it looks like the X4/X6 SAV coupes, which aren't good looking IMO. I do like the trim that lights up and the seats but other than that I can do without the horrible digital dash and iDrive screen that looks like a tablet shoved in the dash.

We all hoped for something better but, in hindsight, what could we expect when this was the platform they were using? They had to work within the parameters they've been given. I'd still like to see what it drives like and see it in person but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah that rear bumper is awful.

For me, this would be a practical daily driver.

The m2comp would bring me joy everyday but this 2er would actually let the kids in and out of the car.

Like Audi and MB are ruining their brands with FWD?

I find the car works better when seeing it in person.
The pictures make it condensed. Particularly the rear of the car.
General consensus may be you might not love it.

But your kids probably would.

Yeah, don't anybody remember the BMW S14 and all the other great engines!?! Nowadays it's just more legroom in the back and industry-leading driver-assistant / iDrive.

It looks slightly better in the photos you posted, but the outgoing 2'er just looked so much better IMHO. I suppose I/we won't like everything the company produces. What matters to me is that I like the cars that I'm interested in buying, so in that case I'm still satisfied.

Corolla with M performance packet!!
It's too bloated looking for a 2.

Curious to see the M2 now.

This isn't a replacement for the outgoing 2'er though. That replacement hasn't been revealed yet.

So BMW shouldn't compete for business from people shopping a CLA or S3? Seems shortsighted. There's an opportunity to win new loyalists to the brand.
