One of the main reasons we bought the E93 was the hard top. We need 3 seats currently and have 2 other cars for hauling stuff in so trunk space isn't a factor to everyone... by the time I want to change maybe we'll look at the Z4 which will probably handle better due to bring shorter and lighter anyway.

I was just looking at E36 on autotrader... several M3 cane with the 'hardtop' - people like that if they're using it in the winter! I mean the F33 came in xdrive.

Love the idea of a soft top 4 series
It'll be my next car when I've grown tired of my 440i GC with MPPSK

Personally I hated the idea of going to a soft top. There are a few other things they can do to make the top a bit less heavy but oh well.
I owned an Z4 e86 with the rag top and it's loud with it up. My current F83 hardtop is much better in turn of lower noise. It's fun to see that going up or down too.
But some men ever has valid point that it's hard to live with the trunk space with the hard top down.
Maybe it's good news that my F83 will be more popular when it comes time to resell. I will enjoy my hard top while I can since the next m4 vert is probably 2021 or later for the US.

Love the return of the soft top, the trunk space compromise for the hard top was absurd even with the top up. It basically put the practicality on par with a roadster.

I think the aesthetics are debatable based on individual taste, even before I had the coupe always thought the hard top looked wrong, you can see the bend and kink in the lines to accommodate the hinges vs the smooth curve of the coupe. The hardtop always looked to me like it was trying to be something that it is not and not quite getting there. Soft top style just looks more fitting and honest to me.

It nice to see a more aggressive trunk spoiler design, ALL BMW's should have that!

It's hard to make a better looking car than the current model.

With that being said, it shouldn't be hard to make one that's more engaging to drive.

The rise of the Soft Top!

I also wonder if this is the new 2 Series? It looks quite short. This said the 2 Series doesn't end production until 2022. Either way it would be awesome if this is the 4 Series. I could do with a size upgrade from the 2 Series but I hate the hard top on the 4 Series. It adds so much weight. You can really feel it when the roof is being folded.

The line you see on the hood is where the grill will meet the hood, so no hood line.

As well as it sells, it seems strange BMW would drop it.
It still appears to be listed.
Its rumored to be dropped for the next generation (G chassis) whenever that comes probably 2020-2022, the only 2's available will be a coupe (rwd) and gran coupe (fwd) leaving the Z4, 4 and 8 series to be the only convertibles left.
I highly doubt that considering the price point of the 2er and the fact that they sold extremely well.

Good riddance to the bloated, heavy hard top.

The hard top was always interesting to me but from a reliability standpoint worried me long term. Rag top seems more classic.

Another disgusting & unsightly tent. Nobody buys this crap except antiquated old dudes that play golf while millennials prefer hard top convertibles. This is going to fail miserably in Asia & the middle east. Way to disappoint growing markets for about a dozen extra sales to amateur golfers that need enough space to store their beer bellies along with their golf bags.

Tldr; yuck. Looks like a C class convertible.

The new 4er design wise is controversial. But it works.
The Coupe is absolute perfection, no longer related in anyway aesthetically to its genetically identical twin the 3er.
People will hate and people will debate. I find that will be delicious.
