I hear your complaint, american v8 cars just do winter comfort better, however I have to be able to get somewhere in the snow so m340i it is all winter.
I drove our Durango yesterday and the steering wheel heats up better than the M340, I just hadn’t tried it in a while and I just remembered that it wasn’t as hot as our previous two Lexus’. The seats in the Durango are also way hotter than the M340. Oh well.

I also have a 2021 X5 and I can definitely say G20's steering wheel heating is not enough compared to G05's. X5's steering wheel heats up to a point where you'd wanna turn it off unless it's cold inside. G20's warmth is just to make you feel there "is" a heating option within the steering wheel but absolutely not enough to keep your hands warm when it's freezing cold outside.

I just wish there was a way to increase the warmth thru coding.

I had a sport trim g20 loan car and it was no where near as warm as my msport trim wheel.

Not sure if the different wheel designs make a difference to the heat output.

Can't find this anywhere in Bimmercode except for the seats. Care to share more details?

I'm going to crank up the cabin temperature to see if that makes any difference. It hasn't been that cold here but yeah when I turned it on yesterday @ 65 degrees cabin temp the steering was barely warm.

It was a bit cold where I live last week, so I tried out my heated steering wheel on my 2020 M340i Xdrive. It was very weak. It only got mildly warm in a few places. Can others respond with their experiences? Is it just terrible, or should I take it in?

Interesting that the dealer said it "works fine". We have a 2022 M340xi, and our heated steering wheel gets quite warm very quickly. I usually have to turn it off after 2 or 3 minutes. Definitely not the same as what you're describing. I wonder if they've updated the heated steering wheel since 2020?

Not much of a noticeable difference regardless of cabin temperature. I'm taking mine in to the dealership!

I may be mistaken, I thought the wheel had the same settings as the seats.

Seats can be set in Bimmercode, but I've never seen the wheel. I think how much the wheel heats is just a factor of who makes the wheel for BMW and how it is made. The wheel on my X3 could also be used to boil water for tea. The wheel on my 650i just gets comfy warm, but nowhere near the X3. The X3 wheel is skinny by comparison, so I'm sure that's part it, but probably is not all of it.
