ASM coding: is it possible to turn off exhaust sound but keep shift burble?
Thinking I would like to code out the asm exhaust noise but want to keep the shift sounds. Is that even possible. Another long shot, anyone figure out how to maybe even just turn down the volume on the asm? So basically turn it down 50%. Reason that I'm asking is that I suspect that the irritation loudness that I'm experiencing with my AA EL midpipe is maybe caused or exasperated by the ASM.

I didn’t look in expert mode when turning off the fake exhaust.
I would just go into expert mode and look at the options. You’re not going to hurt anything making random changes. |

I think that could also be the case as well. Lots of people running the EL midpipe don't seem to have the same issue. I know the previous cs models lost sound insulation but wasn't aware this in the g80. I guess it kinda makes sense since my doors sound more hollow when closing them compared to my bros g80 m3 comp. Probably the less insulated, the titanium box combo plus asm causing that issue for me, now that I think about it. |

As for the question, I have not heard of turning off 50% of ASD, but rather it is binary, on or off. |

You are correct, sir. 😊 . So can anyone confirm if it's possible to just code out the exhaust noise, but keep the shift sounds?

Well, the answer is yes.
So I put the AA EL back on after going back to stock. Stock was just too tame and quite. I did however, bimmercode out out the fake exhaust speaker noise on load, and exhaust speaker burble off. What a difference that made. It sounds so much better and more organic now. Now that the exhaust is loud enough not to need fake noise, it's much better. I think the 2 sound frequency, one from the speakers and one from the exhaust, was causing the issue being slightly different. The speaker sound being the culprit. It still just a little too loud for my liking around 4.5-5k rpm, but much much better now. I think with a very light resonator , it will be just right. AA said that they will try to do a resonator section that I can swap in. So looking forward to that and getting this just right. The car is much more exciting to drive now and with the real sounds coming out now, feels and sounds more organic and natural which makes it more exciting.
