Alexa stopped working

Ive used Alexa in my G21 330e for years now without issue, but since upgrading my phone from an iPhone 12 to a 15pro, it will not work. Ive tried everything I can find online in various forums, posts, disconnected, the account. Ive had the car to my local BMW garage today who have said everything is set up correctly and the problem with with the iphone BMW app/Alexa app. When I say 'Alexa' the blue circle appears on the screen but then I just get the error that alexa isnt set up, and the usual rubbish instructions. I use this all the time, so any help would be very much appreciated in what I can do to fix.

Update:
Just spoke to connected drive who said it’s a known issue and have emailed requesting detail. Appreciate for some it’s useless but I use it all the time for music and quite like it. Disappointing that it’s broken, but at least BMW accept it’s a problem at their end now rather than blaming the user, apple or amazon. Coincidentally the bmw app was updated on my phone 3 weeks ago from 3.7.2 to 3.9.0 which seems to be about the time that Alexa stopped working.

My Alexa has been temperamental (almost useless) since day one, however for the last week its not worked at all. So possibly a wider issue?

Was going to do a bit of digging but really can't be bothered with it anymore.

Mine stopped a couple of weeks ago. No enthusiasm to start resetting, reconnecting and reinstalling everything anymore.

I set mine up when it was first available, a couple of years ago, but it was pretty useless so I disabled it after about a month and haven’t bothered since.

I have recently suffered exactly the same and it’s driving me mad.

After working ok for several months, 2 weeks ago it just stopped.

I have deleted the phone from the car and the car from the phone, you name it I have done it,

On Sunday I called BMW connected drive and they emailed some instructions. I have done this already but thought I’d give it a go.

So I updated services and then pressed the volume button for 60 seconds (not the normal 30) and it all fired up. Then without changing anything it worked and continued to work all day.

Come Monday and it’s back to square 1. No Alexa. It’s not set up correctly but I know it is.

I think it’s some back end issue but the lady from Connecteddrive knew of no problems.

If anyone has a fix please shout up!

I tried setting it up 3 years ago and found it all a bit of a faff. Decided I didn't actually need it. Adding items to an Amazon shopping list really isn't something I'd ever do. But now thinking about it, what does it do that I might be missing?? I don't have Amazon Music (got Spotify instead) and if I do need to ask the computer something, I can always use Google on Android Auto.

I have Amazon music as opposed to Spotify and it used to work great for that but now it doesn’t. Not really that bothered as the sound system is toss anyway, but it seems a common issue.

I tried setting up the Alexa app as well, but I was just going round in circles with it and gave up.

I did want to use it TBH, but, can't be arsed with too much faffing about much with mobile phones, I can't be doing with the bloody things.

Eventually managed to sort this. For anyone interested:
Created a new profile, uninstalled the bmw app. Logged out from Alexa to break connection to bmw.
Reinstalled app and logged in with new profile, followed standard set up instructions and hey presto

Thanks for the info. TBH, I don't have the time or energy to try all that in the hope it may work for me. Why should we go through this circus just to restore a function that shouldn't be broken in the first place?

I used Alexa every day for all my music. The dab radio is shocking in my car. Since I updated a month ago I can’t get it working at all. So frustrating. When it did work it only work about 60% of the time.

Alexa is back working again today for me.

There has been a few app updates this week so maybe that’s included a fix.

I had to relink my Amazon account to the BMW app but other than that all seems ok again.

I am at least pleased to read that others had exactly the same Alexa issues as me.

It’s working just fine now. I think one of the sneaky bug fixes on myBMW did the trick

Although as usual - one fix leads to something else now not working.

The apple watch app now doesn't work...

I tend not to use Alexa but I have tried it and find it working intermittent on entering car. I have noticed that at times when checking Mobile Devices that the APPS icon is not lit, Music and WIFI icons lit. On disconnecting phone and reconnecting again the APPS icon is lit and Alexa works until I get in the car another time and the APPS icon isn't lit again. Any ideas? I have followed most of this thread and tried resetting iphone, car and accounts.

Updated my iOS app yesterday. Alexa worked last night without any further intervention such as reconnecting etc.
