Lost all audio/sound after ID7 update

Afternoon all,

I have a 2022 plate 330e and last night I downloaded and installed the 11/2023.50 update for the idrive.

Getting into the car today it appears to have no sound at all. No music, no sat nav sound, not even the indicator noise!

Has anyone heard of experienced this before? I don't know for sure that it's related to the update, but all was fine before it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. I have a 4 hour drive this evening and as it stands it's going to be a quiet one!

Many thanks

Try an iDrive reset.

Thanks for the reply, is that just holding the volume button down for 30 seconds? Ive tried that and no good. Is there any other way to reset it?

No that's what I meant. I suspect that it will resolve of its own accord after a short time. The release notes for the update refers to odd situations that will sort themselves out.

I think idrive reset is to hold it for more like a minute or so. If you do it a garage or where it’s quiet you’ll hear it making subtle noises as it resets as well

Thanks both for your help, sadly the full reboot was also unsuccessful. Guess I'll have to hope it rights itself over the next few days. if not it'll be the dealership!

Mine just completed the update, hopefully it will mute the sound of my wife's nagging when she gets in the car

It's always reassuring when you've got a problem in your car and you discover on the forum that you're not the only one. Cheers for that!

Evening all

Thought I'd post an update for those who took the time to help or to anyone who may search for this after finding themselves in a similar situation.

After a few days and still no sound I had a BMW roadside assistant come out who couldn't fix it.

It then went to Stratstone BMW who managed to diagnose that it needed a new control unit - however they couldn't say what had caused it. Everything they checked seemed in good condition.

After a couple of days the unit arrived and it was fitted and working again (all under warranty too thankfully!)

Thanks to all those who replied with help!

Thanks for the update, glad you got this sorted under warranty.

It's a little scary though, that a iDrive update may have bricked one of the control modules in your car, of which, there are many in these cars.
