Everyone in the US should remove the GFHB coding within the next 2 weeks.

Publication of the APPROVAL permitting Full AFS and ADB will occur in October. This includes voluntary retroactive enabling for vehicles properly equipped.

Do you have a source for this information? My searching skills are subpar it seems.

Wouldn't be easy to search for, and likely insignificant if found.

Public Docket can be found here:

https://beta.regulations.gov/docket/NHTSA-2018-0090

Significant Points:

Action: Final Rule

Date: 10/00/2020 (the day displays 00 as the 12th is a Federal Holiday)

Designation: Deregulatory

Thank you for the feedback jk1112,

In addition to the coding siegester posted, these are the other GFHB related coding changes I made to my vehicle:

VO Coded the two FLMs with ECE typecode.

KAFAS4 40F9 C_FLA_COUNTRY_WITH_MUTIPLE_REFLECTORS aktiv
KAFAS4 40F9 C_FLA_US_SENSITIVITY_MODE normal
KAFAS4 40F9 C_FLA_BS_ENTER_THRESH rest of world
KAFAS4 40F9 C_FLA_EXT_THRESH rest of world

I believe the first fdl coding change in KAFAS4 will accomplish your objective re road signs.
This may be a stupid newbie question, but how would I find those parameters in 40F9? I just have a bunch of "UNBELEGT" and numbers and if I try to search for any of the keywords mentioned in the code it just comes up with nothing?

This is a new method of signatures that will make coding not possible with the current method.

This will be implemented on MY2021 cars. Unfortunatley the wide forum spread of codings along with Bimmercode has become too widely spread that BMW was suffering and decided to put a stop to this.
Is this verified yet? So will there be no more coding or just another workaround?
Looking at an M340i right now and not sure if I should stick with looking for a 20 or order a 21.

So does this mean US cars will get full anti dazzle like euro cars? How about pedestrian illumination?

Full ADB per SAE J3069. Pedestrian Illumination requires Night Vision Camera until the 2022 Electronics Service Pack update with Solid State LIDAR incorpoated.

Anti-dazzle coding on Laser?

Besides watching the headlights in action, is there any visual representation in the cluster or iDrive that tells you it's working? I want to code as minimal as possible and therefore don't want to proceed if it's already working.

So far I'e done this…

(1) Remove 5AP and VO Code BDC, HU_MGU, Kafas and both FLMs; and

(2) FDL Code the following in Kafas 40F9:

COUNTRY_VARIATION Europe_RC [01]
C_FLA_BS_ENTER_THRESH Rest of world [03]
C_FLA_BS_EXIT_THRESH: Rest of world [02]

Interesting. That update on G16 should cause KAFAS4 to lock and isolate when tampered with.

Lemetier, could you elaborate on this? It doesn't sound like a good thing by any measure!

It's stupid. What did the guy behind Bimercode think was going to happen?

I fail to see how BMW was suffering though: warranty claims from negligent owners?

You will know it is working, in auto lights mode you do not have to put high beams on, on the dark road blue highbeam light in the dash will be on all the time despite oncoming traffic. It works great.
