Adaptive Suspension in ConnectedDrive Store?

Found adaptive suspension available in connected drive store. Does anyone know if this equipment can be "activated" for previous produced G20/G21? Or is it something for the future according to BMW's latest new release that it is going to install all necessary hardware and charge all kinds of functions by subscription model?

No, it's different components.

Did you activate it and did it work?

Also @Burrcold, could you share more by it’s different components? Thanks!

I would imagine that BMW will install suspension components that can either be passive or software coded to be adaptive.

If you currently have passive suspension then downloading adaptive software from connected drive won't make them adaptive. Different hardware.

If however it says 'this is available for your vehicle' then it'll work.

Just spoke to BMW Genius team - for G20s with production dates July, 2020 onward - the factory will install hardware components where you can turn on adaptive suspension via subscription. Hope it helps.

Wow I'd have definitely paid for this but mine is a March 2020 build.

What's the pricing for this feature?

Yeah, makes sense. It costs $700 from the factory. I think via subscription the cost is the same.

But if you have a March 2020 build (i.e. pre July, 2020 build), it won't have the hardware to support this - sorry. Maybe worth checking and seeing - go into your Connected Drive store.

This makes no sense. So they're going to put the adaptive suspension components on the car already and hope that people subscribe to use them? I'm very doubtful this is correct....

Is this happening? BMW genius said it will not be an available upgrade on connected drive.

wow, this is really an anger inducing practice from BMW

so basically, the car has the capability and they will hold it hostage unless you pay?

coming soon: window opening ability, only $10/month!

I think this will be a cool way to add in some options and test them out to see if it's worth it or not.

If possible for my car I would have absolutely added in the adaptive suspension and gladly paid for it for my lease. To each their own tho!

Yup. It's the Tesla model - all cars are the same and it's what you subscribe for.

You can go in the Connected Drive store and see what you're car is eligible for.

I think it will be the future for automobiles as having a standard car build can reduce manufacturing costs and all other overheads associated with building options. Let’s face it the cost of the parts to the manufacturer is relatively low.

Has anyone been able to purchase the function via the Connected Drive Store?

It will only be available on cars that are July 2020 and newer builds. If you're in the US, it's a feature that may not offered - ask BMW genius to verify.

Actually this could help folks who didn't think they would want a specific option when they were looking for or ordering a new vehicle but have since regretted not opting for it. It gives them a chance to get that option after the fact - less buyer's remorse. Of course some things may never work this way such as the ZTK brake/cooling/tire option.
