BMW 330e recall STOP020700
BMW issued a recall and delivery halt of all new 330e both Sedan and Touring cars today.
I was contacted regarding my one week old 330e Touring and they advised to suspend any plug-in charging of the car until further notice. Using any drive mode and battery control to charge the car while driving should be fine. According to the bmw.co.uk website and my VIN number: "There is an open technical enhancement on this vehicle." with code STOP020700. |

Checked my VIN comes back clean, no recalls for me. Took delivery in mid Feb. Maybe something that only affects later builds? |

Not much info on this at the moment,
The only thing that's mentioned is there may be a potential issue in the welding process of the HV-modules. There is no fix as of this moment. As for the G20, it seems its affecting mostly July 2020 productions vehicles. affected chassis include G01 G05 G12 G20 G30 F60 Mini Cooper Last edited by Lo2; 08-12-2020 at 09:03 AM.. |

Got a confirmation that not all cars produced July 2020 were affected, mine is one of them. So I can continue to charge it as usual.
Using the https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/footer/quic...e-recalls.html site, it is no longer listed with the STOP020700 recall. |

The automaker said that internal inspections revealed that welding beads on the high-voltage storage tank were not completely removed during production. It said that in rare cases, depending on the shape, size and position of the welding bead, a contamination during the initial charging process could cause a malfunction, such as a short circuit in the high-voltage memory. The company confirmed the defect to the German publication, and said owners of the affected vehicles are currently being individually informed. In the meantime, owners of the affected vehicles have been told to not charge their cars at a wallbox or charging station until the cars have been checked. It told the magazine that technical action would begin shortly and will involve checking the high-voltage storage for vehicles already in customer hands with regard to the charging history, and if necessary, further measures will be taken. Meanwhile, the country’s Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) has also been informed of the problem and is planning to release an official recall soon. |

Has anybody got an update on this matter? Mine is still at port and no technical action for repair issued still now 2 weeks on from when the stop campaign was put in place??
Dealer just keep putting me off, and BMW UK no longer responding as taking no responsibility on the timescales when I’ve waited since January when ordered the car |

I just received a similar recall notice but with a different number: Recall code 0061670500.
It says that there is an issue with the High-Voltage battery that can lead to short circuits and fires when fully charged. I'm being told to immediately stop charging battery and also to stop engine from charging battery. Mine is a March 2020 build. Booked in at dealer end of November to have charging cable replaced and battery "fixed". So limited powerboost for me for the next month. Last edited by draggeur; 10-09-2020 at 11:28 AM.. |
