Thanks for reply. I'm aware that it shouldn't be removed, question is, should it be placed back? I'm thinking it probably should.

I think SwankPeRFection is correct but I guess it makes no difference. But if it’s bothering u just go back and get it put on. It’s like 30min project.

I guess I wouldn't have been concerned if they didn't give the plastic piece back to me. It seems it's main job is to hold the rubber air dam. I doubt it protects or keep the oil cooler in place...

Here’s how I look at it. If they had read and followed the instructions, the job would have been done correctly and they got paid. Since you’re PAYING for it to be done for you, they need to do it correctly. It’s on their dime to fix honestly and it should be fixed. This is why I do shit myself. Paying someone else, they just don’t give a fuck to do it right anymore… it’s fucking annoying when people don’t pay attention to details. Maybe print the instructions off so they don’t try and argue against it. Hopefully a copy was on the box with the original part when you took it to them.

I kept mine on when I first installed the Mishimoto, but after lowering on MP HAS, the rubber lip was scraping on significant bumps and quickly got destroyed.

The metal lip on the guard itself extends down a decent way, so that still provides a similar effect to the rubber part.

It does nothing but hold the rubber dam.

Now that you have the mishi plate..that OEM part is unnecessary.

TLDR: its ok to leave that uninstalled.

Thanks for the reply. It seems that the F8x generation oil cooler didn't have those plastic pieces on it.

You are correct that the thin metal edge does provide some vacuum effect, obviously not as much as with the rubber air dam strip, but it works. You can always monitor fluid temps to see if anything runs hotter than normal.

My engine oil cooler got punctured and ended up being a costly repair lol. I now have the CSF engine oil cooler that has the mesh protector (similar to Zunsport). Is it worth getting the mishimoto skid plate guard as well?

My car is lowered but I only lowered the front ride height by half an inch.

Don't see any benefit to doing both, or even if they'd both fit.

I know it’s a pipe-dream but when this occurs on a stock height M3/M4 I’d think there could be a case made that poor design causes the issues. It sucks that people have to either pay themselves or get their insurance to cover it due to a poor BMW design. I mean how much could it cost for BMW to add some protection to the oil cooler before it leaves the factory?

I do feel bad for the folks who lower their cars but I don’t believe anyone could hold BMW responsible for the bad design when the car was lowered 😔

The Mishimoto is good for large objects, don't think the csf grill will help much in that case. I added a mesh under mine for smaller debris.

Evolve just released a video where they added a skid plate to their csf oil cooler.

Could ripe for class action but my dealer said that in the aggregate a very small number of cars get cooler damage. Who knows? I have a terrible slope where my driveway meets the street and an insane permitting process to boot. I have to ask the village but I want to chop up about 2 feet of my driveway and re-pore it - but if its not a "repair" and I need a permit forget about it. I have to back in SLOWLY - afraid for that cooler.

Years ago I had a Volvo XC station wagon (The first new car I got -wife insisted "for the baby") about 2000 miles in the fuel line came loose and the wheel wears a hole in it. Volvo says: Its not covered under the warranty its from "wear and tear" but we will fix it for free. I think they said that for legal reasons. My attitude was it was design flaw and I would drive it until it burst into flame and then have some fun with Volvo - but they recognized the folly gave me a loaner and fixed it ASAP.

I suggest no one buy from them if you want a smooth experience.

Southeast coating fabrication are absolute scammers. Not only did I receive mine late, it doesn’t even fit properly . After paying the labor to put it on, its all wonky (as seen in picture below)
After talking to Paul he cut me short and basically said he’d send me a new one the next day (im in Florida also). To which I was ok with. A week goes by, nothing, two go by nothing. After calling him says he’ll send it out next day. He doesn’t.

One month goes by, and mind you this oil cooler scrapes everywhere (since it doesn’t fit), and it starts banging around at speeds of 90+. So I’ve had the car for a month and a half at this point and a full month of that im not able to enjoy it…

I had enough so I call him asking for a refund, he then proceeds to lie to me that they sent me a replacement week ago. And he’s fine with refunding me if I send that one back. I asked for tracking info or any proof, to which he’s rushing me to get off the phone cause he’s going into a “meeting”
Ever since then he hasn’t responded to any calls and has been ghosting me.

Avoid these crooks. (Check out other people they scammed here)

Whoever did the install should have noticed the issue and widened the holes a bit. Mine does bow a little bit but nothing that extreme.

I have no skin in this game since I have the Zunsport but I don’t think the issue with the fit is the problem. It’s all about after-sales support. Whether the product is good or not I hear about poor customer service and I’m out. Anyone can sell a product but providing after sales support is my #1 priority when purchasing products.

Exactly.. how could you try to blame the installer
They’re just installing the product.. what more can they do with a poorly made product..
