Should I build a tracktool/racecar based on the G8x M3/M4?
Hello from Germany,
last week i sold my E92 tracktool so now i need a new projekt. What do you think about building a new tool based on the new M4? Possible or not the good idea? : |

You'll need to be willing to be a guinea pig or very patient, right? I've done tracking but have never built a track tool. I'd think if you were going that route there would be other vehicles better suited for the job that would be more effective and/or less money. GT350 or SS1LE/ZL1 1LE, a vette grand sport (if these are as good of a value in Germany as they are in the states). If you're looking for more class, then a P Car seems the way to go. M2/3/4 are great for a mix of street and track but I don't understand tearing one apart to make it a track toy. It obviously can be done, but at what cost?

I know what you mean, normally i should drive a Porsch GT3/GT4 but thats not possible because of my job situation
After building my E92 i know how expensive it will get... Carbonfibre doors, rolecage and so on and so on.... So i think the new M4 could be the only option for me, because the "old" one is the "old" one next year... |

But i think it will drive better than the old one, it would be the first time that the new model drives worse. More interessting is the possibilty to build something on it. For example...Are there more problems with the electrics? When there will be a AWD version only i think it will be a no go... Also BMW will build the next GT3 racecar on the M4 as i know... |

Depends, as far as pure driving I feel that only one new M3 has been “driving better” than the old one at that’s the E46. It actually felt harder and rawer than the E36 while the other generational shifts has brought a car that felt heavier and more isolated than the prior. I expect this to be another of those. Faster and more comfortable for sure but “drive better”? Maybe with all aspects considered, we’ll see what M-agic BMW can pull off but the rumored traditional AT and AWD will bring challenges for the purists to get used to that’s for sure.

I don't see why not. You don't have to go crazy with the track build.
To get an M3 to be very fast you need: -BBK -Suspension That's pretty much it. I'm pretty sure the G80, like all M cars before it, will be fast as hell and easy to drive at the limit - sounds like a perfect track car to me |
