2022 —> 2021 m performance?
So listen, in May of this year I got a 2022 M340i with 20,000km (I have now brought it up to 33,000km) as I struck a deal giving in my new civic. When I did this I didn’t look much into it and now regret not having many options. I am now looking at a 2021 m340i M performance edition (frozen black) with 58,500km.
I am almost doing a direct trade in but taking a slight loss. The M Perfomance model comes with that beautiful red interior, laser lights, m adaptive suspension and that exhaust is insane (Not to even mention that paint). Some things though that I gotta keep in mind is that the brake pads are at 8mm, there’s some chips at the paint all over the front end that aren’t really visible, and they are giving me a brand new set of tires as the ones on it are completely worn out…. (Can’t be good eh?) Anyways curious if this is a braindead move as I’m going to an older model with like 20,000 more km just because of a spec being in favor. In all honesty my love for my own m340i has slowly died away having me looking into the model 3 (and I’m a loser for loud cars too). My car is bone stock when it comes to sound so it’s pretty dry which is why I’m so in love with this M Performance edition. Anyways let me know your guys thoughts. The CarFax is clean on it, and look how it sits like damn. ![]() |

There isn't that much difference between the two. Besides the different color outside and inside, some extra options and the exhaust their pretty similar. So if you really lost your love for your current M340i, I don't think it will last long before you lose your love for the M Performance one also.
Mayby upgrading the current one with some modifications would be the better (and cheaper) route? |

So you’re going to a 1 yr older car with substantially more miles , worse condition and basically no warranty left?
Seems like a bad deal even for a net wash, you should be making $$$ with this move. Generally trading in your car to a dealer is going to be a bad move. Idk what m performance edition is , but it’s prob highly overrated, probably some exterior bs and an MPE. Yes I think it’s a bad move. Also this is a good lesson in why you should look at the spec before you buy a car in the future. |

I went shopping for a m340i but I couldn’t find the rite spec and I tried 4 different dealers within 100 miles were I live in Florida, so I settled on a perfectly speced out 2020 330i with only 26,000 miles and with dealer warranty and I love this car. Point being is, you should never just settle for a car that is not speced the way that you want it, I did that with my previous 328i and I swore I would never do that again. Good luck to you.

That's the hard part when looking second hand, 100% speced the way you like is nearly impossible. So you have to decide for yourself what matters to you most. I can imagine someone putting the right/preferred engine on top of that list. |

Instead of taking a loss, put that money towards an aftermarket exhaust. They're all on sale now, too, so no better time to buy.
I doubt the new car would have any issues at only 50k km, but taking a loss to get into an older car with more use is tough to swallow. Also, the problems you know are better than the problems you don't. |

Fs1977, your absolutely rite when buying used but I sacrificed the b58 for a well speced 330i and to be honest, I only put shell 93v power gas and I always keep my tires psi exactly where they need to be and my car runs like it’s on rails, not slow at all but the m 340i is a beast and an awesome car. Funny thing, I just pulled up to my bmw dealer for an oil change and tire rotation and rite in front on me a m3 speced the same as mine, Portimao blue, blacked out with black rims! I felted deflated! Lmao
