Many previous renders ignored that area and just have a giant vacuum grille, which, technically is true, however, as seen in the leaked 4 series, there is a slight distinction in that area even without a plate bracket in that the grille is closed off there, creating a subtle horizontal visual cue. While seemingly minor, this creates a very different design visually. You guys have really nailed it, I think. And it is not a bad looking car.
I think this is as close as it gets for the moment.

The more I look at the previous leaks the more I am convinced that plastic splitters will be attached to the bottom. As we have seen in the leak from the back end there is a plastic trimm around the rear and on the side skirt. I think this design feature will reach also to the front (first pic)

On the latest leak from the front facia we can also see a little bit of black sneaking in the picture (second pic).

As a result the G8X would have a design feature which the F8X already had (third pic).

I agree the sketches are looking good but shouldn't we expect the horizontal slats to continue in the license plate area as opposed to plain black plastic as shown in the colored sketches? I'm sure it will still look like a giant grill and they will try to disguise the horizontal closed piece in the license plate area by using horizontal grill slats...

But BMW would most likely go for the SpaceBalls 'Dark Helmet' version...

Awesome Sketches @PeregrineFalcon. This really looks like it could be close to reality.

Hey everyone, new member here.

It's refreshing come here and read something positive regarding BMWs bold new styling direction. Personally, I feel that ppl are over reacting to this design very prematurely, not giving the styling the roper chance to present itself in the real world context.

I'm loving this new direction, and, btw, great sketches above!
